 Job Description: Guaranteed Hours a week: 30 and 40, alternating week (one week Mon Tues, Wed and Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri the next week) – 70 hours every two weeks Job Summary: The Ultrasonographer is responsible to the Department Director or Manager. They are to be clinically competent, deliver care to patients utilizing the department and organization policy and procedure. Effectively interacts with patients, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining standards of ASRT and ARDMS. Essential functions: Performs direct patient care, utilizing established policies, procedures and standards. Administers contrast and IV's according to policy and procedure. Accurately executes provider orders according to policies and procedures. Performs indirect patient care, utilizing established procedures, policies, and standards. Communicates pertinent information to the appropriate persons in a timely manner. Performs accurate and timely documentation according to SVH guidelines. Perform abdominal, vascular and obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound examinations including small parts by producing appropriate images on adult, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal patients. Assists Radiologist in performing surgical procedures. Adhere to ASRT and ARDMS standards of practice. Able to work independently and unsupervised and be available for regular emergency standby coverage off-hours and on weekends. Availability to work at multiple locations. Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff according to policies and procedures. Ensures that supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are stored in an organized and efficient manner. Demonstrates correct and safe techniques in the use of equipment according to specific product information. Follows appropriate procedures for obtaining and returning or cleaning/disposing of equipment and supplies. Participates in economical utilization of supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner. Adheres to Diagnostic Imaging policies. Does not incur excessive overtime. Complies with specific SVH policies and procedures concerning safety. PATIENT SATISFACTION - Assists patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respects their confidentiality and privacy and communicates with them in a courteous and respectful manner. Answers and refers telephone calls or other inquires to ensure accurate and timely communications are facilitated. Identifies him/herself in a pleasant and positive manner. Takes responsibility for helping the caller and/or visitor. TEAMWORK - Assists in the orientation/training of new Team Members. Consistently works in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow Team Members. Assists other Team Members in the performance of their assignments. Records/reports the need for service maintenance or repair of equipment and removes any faulty equipment from service. PRODUCTIVITY/EFFICIENCY - Consistently demonstrates the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary. Minimizes nonproductive time and fills slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the future needs of SVH (education, organizing, housekeeping, assisting others). Organizes job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frames. Consistently demonstrates the ability to take the initiative to make decisions/choices without direct supervision. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT - Attends required annual in-service programs. Participates in continuing education activities and obtains required hours. Meets 100% attendance requirement to annual mandatory skill updates. Attends a minimum of 75% of scheduled staff meetings and reads and signs all minutes of meetings not attended. ADHERENCE TO SVH AND DEPARTMENTAL POLICIES - Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate sources. Education: High School diploma or GED required. Successful completion of an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound program required. Experience/Training: Minimum one (1) year experience performing a wide range of ultrasound exams preferred. Abdomen, OB/GYN and Vascular registries preferred. License/Certifications: Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification or ARDMS eligible. If hired as registry eligible, required to have ARDMS certification within 1 year of hire. Current American Heart Association (AHA) healthcare provider BLS certification required. Other Skills: Demonstrates ability and appropriate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures in accordance with physician's orders and policies and procedures. Job Summary: 
To provide diagnostic ultrasound services in a hospital and/or clinical setting, to include OB/GYN, abdominal, and vascular superficial structures. Clerical duties as required. To perform all duties in a manner which promotes team concepts and reflects the KPNW Mission and philosophy.
Essential Responsibilities:

<li>Performing diagnostic procedures, using knowledge, skills and abilities required for age of patient served to include: Routine, emergent, portable, surgical examinations in accordance with department policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Communication with Radiologist.</li>
<li>Assist patient/transport.</li>

Sonographer, Diagnostic Ultrasound Float, Sunnyside, 40 hrs, Variable

Job Description: Sonographers demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology, showing competence in production, use, recognition, and analysis of ultrasound images and patterns used for patient diagnosis. The Sonographer is responsible for performing the daily sonographic procedures and the independent operation of ultrasound equipment, and for performing diagnostic sonographic procedures according to Radiologist. The Sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to uphold and improve his/her education and skills to ensure professional competence.

As a Sonographer at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:
* Ability to appropriately access, manage and accurately update patient medical records through Hospital Electronic Medical Record Information Systems. 
* Maintains patient confidentiality as outlined by privacy and HIPAA guidelines. 
* Practices according to the SDMS Code of Ethics for the Profession of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound 
* Performs accurate clinical assessment to identify patient signs and symptoms and adapt procedures as appropriate. 
* Effectively operates sonographic equipment to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological and diagnostic sonographic images. 
* Uses independent judgment during the sonogram to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. Initiates the appropriate methods and level of exploration necessary to document, clarify and quantify disease processes. 
* Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information in medical history and effectively communicates findings to the appropriate physician. 
* Practices universal safety precautions to minimize exposure to patient, self, and staff.
Minimum Qualifications
* Satisfactory completion of formal ultrasound training in an AMA approved school and/or formal on-the-job ultrasound training in addition to graduating from an AMA approved medical program. 
* RDMS Physics SPI Registry or Registry from equivalent Society (ARRT, CRGS, etc), required. 
* Registry in 4 or more Specialties, required 
* BLS required within 60 days of hire, required
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in abdominal, OB/GYN, small parts, vascular and interventional ultrasound.
Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
