Job DescriptionSalary: 
The Medical Assistant verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, and documenting purpose of visit. They prepare patients for examination, assist in procedures as appropriate and perform a variety of patient care tasks under the supervision of a licensed health care provider. Duties range widely from administrative to clinical.
 
Essential Functions:

<li>Maintaining patient privacy and adhering to HIPAA guidelines at all times.</li>
<li>Using computer applications- performing any data entry tasks to document patient demographics, records or note to file. Documenting patients' medical information, including medical history and review of symptoms within EHR of patients chart.</li>

Clinical Duties
<ul>
<li>Welcoming and greeting patients.</li>
<li>Maintaining HIPAA and performing OSHA standards at all times.</li>
<li>Taking medical histories, recording patients' chief complaint and documenting provider evaluation notes of visit in patients chart.</li>
<li>Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms for physicians' review during clinical exams.</li>
<li>Preparing patients for examination-Prepping exam rooms for clinical, surgical or cosmetic procedures and assisting providers during exams with patient care.</li>
<li>Preparing and administering medications as directed by a provider.</li>
<li>Explaining treatment procedures to patients.</li>
<li>Ensuring all consents are signed by the patient prior to provider performing any type of procedure.</li>
<li>Pre and post photos to be taken and documentation to be listed in detail for any procedure, biopsy or surgical along with cosmetic.</li>
<li>Collecting, labeling and preparing laboratory specimens.</li>
<li>Instructing patients about medication.</li>
<li>Removing sutures and changing dressings.</li>
<li>Maintaining proper cleaning of medical instruments and sterilization.</li>
<li>Reviewing office use medication and patient samples expiration dates.</li>
<li>Properly disinfecting and restocking of medical supplies in patient exam rooms.</li>
<li>Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention and assistance during office visits. Being a patient Liaison. Medical assistants are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease in the physicians office.</li>
