1. Operates and maintains boilers; observes various meters and gauges and takes appropriate action for safe operation.
2. Starts, stops and switches over boiler as appropriate.
3. Cleans and repairs boilers, blow tubes and discharge sediment; regulates feed water and condensation pumps and lubricates pump equipment.
 
4. Cleans inside of boiler wall and repairs and/or replaces broken or worn parts.
5. Tests emergency generators and log results, reaction, etc. Tests boiler and cooling tower water samples; assigns proper chemical treatment to boiling and cooling waters. 
6. Performs periodic inspections of mechanical rooms throughout the hospital to ensure proper operation of heat, air conditioning and ventilation, and medical support equipment.
 7. Perform emergency maintenance repairs in the hospital when called between the hours of 3:30pm and 7:00am daily and all day Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Contact the on-call Maintenance Mechanic or Facilities Manager if unable to make the necessary repair depending on the urgency of the repair.
 
8. Checks operation of emergency generators during a power failure. Takes reading and resets relays that trip out. Check and reset elevators and makes sure no individuals are in the elevator. 
9. Proficient knowledge of boilers, generators, elevators, air conditioning machinery/equipment.
10. Performs other duties as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
Experience: 1-3 years boiler room experience. 
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: License as a Boiler Operator preferred.

Overall Purpose and Objective of Position
This position provides leadership and direction to the maintenance team of an export grain elevator.&nbsp; Primary function is to ensure the optimum performance of the maintenance team, and that all maintenance processes are performed in a safe, efficient manner.

<li>Leads the safety effort within the maintenance department, and ensures that the maintenance team follows the established LDC safety processes pertaining to maintenance and repairs.</li>
<li>Leads the Commitment to ZERO 365 culture and actively uses the learnings of the safety training.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Develops cascading departmental goals in support of the site goals, along with individual goals for direct reports.&nbsp; Leads the maintenance staff and sets clear expectations, with reinforcement, for the department supervisors and superintendents.</li>
<li>Mentors, coaches, and empowers team to improve.&nbsp; Encourages contribution from all team members.&nbsp; Lead changes and improvement initiatives.&nbsp;</li>

Working Conditions

Frequent visits to industrial operation areas are necessary with exposure to a variety of temperatures, prevailing weather conditions, and some exposure to chemicals, gases, vapors, dust, odors and flammable liquids. There will be occasional exposure to areas with wet floors and high volume of noise. Position will require some stair climbing. Work is sometimes above ground level.&nbsp;</li>
