Responsibilities:

<li>Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.</li>
<li>Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects.</li>
<li>Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects and municipal utility or infrastructure projects. </li>
<li>Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.</li>
<li>Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects. </li>
<li>Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.</li>
<li>Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work. </li>
<li>Possibly conduct hazardous material surveys, as well as asbestos abatement monitoring services during abatement projects. </li>
<li>Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.</li>
<li>Notify the Project Engineer with status updates or non-conforming work.</li>
<li>Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager. </li>
</ul>
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

<li>Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles.</li>
<li>Experience with materials and lab testing.</li>
<li>Experience with quality control testing and compliance specifications. </li>
<li>Experience with standard testing and observation methods.</li>
<li>Understanding of construction or engineering services.</li>
<li>Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing.</li>
<li>Skill in lab reporting, writing reports and maintaining records.</li>
<li>Ability to manage projects with little/no supervision. </li>

Minimum Qualifications:

<li>Completed INDOT Certified Technician program…. OR…
<ul>
<li>Has a Bachelor’s degree in either Civil Engineering or Construction Management.</li>
</ul>

<li>Technical school or Community college graduate.
<ul>
<li>Preferred: Associate Degree with 2 years of additional related work experience or Bachelor’s Degree or Certification in related field. </li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>2+ years of related experience. </li>
<li>Familiarity with highway construction specifications and previous field experience.</li>
<li>Previous experience working for a testing company. </li>
<li>Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing.</li>
<li>Experience with field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, structural steel and fireproofing, etc. </li>
<li>Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Tech, NICET Level II Soils, ICC Special inspections and/or CWI/NDT inspectors.</li>
<li>Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.</li>

DFI currently has open Inspector 1 &amp; 2 positions open with WSSC in Montgomery County and Prince George's Counties. The candidates will be working directly with the 7th largest water wastewater provider in the nation. The ideal applicants will have a minimum of 3 years experience to meet qualifications of Inspector 1 and minimum of 5 years experience for Inspector 2 in sewer and/or water systems. The candidates will typically be assigned to sewer and water system projects within the WSSC operating zones/service base.
The applicant must have thorough knowledge of construction methods used to remove and replace existing aged supply systems. This knowledge shall include understanding by-pass systems, rehabilitation, relining, water sample collection, valve operation, shut down notifications, valve installation, pipe laying, restraint systems, fire hydrants, pressure testing, chlorination, flushing and service connections. NICET or similar certification is desirable and should be noted and supported in the applicants professional resume. NASSCO certification is also a strong plus.

Job Responsibilities of Construction Inspectors Level I, II and III:

<li>Compiles and records notes, sketches, test results, inspection data and other information to document compliance and/or develop designs, specifications, reports, maps and other geographically based data. Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.</li>

<li>Calculates/measures area and volume dimensions, horizontal and vertical geometry, profile and component specifications, and material testing dimensions using calculators or computers.</li>

We are seeking qualified construction inspectors, resident engineers and field office document control specialists for transportation facilities, marine/port facilities, and related underground utility construction projects in the Pittsburgh Region and western Pennsylvania. 
Requirements:

<li>Minimum of 5 years of specific field construction inspection experience in the specified areas listed below

<li>Inspection Skills - Applicants must have demonstrated inspection experience in one or more of the following categories:

<li>Marine construction (new &amp; renovations) including piers, wharves and terminal warehouses;</li>
<li>Underground utility construction including relocation and /or installation of water-sewer pipelines, electrical conduits, manholes and fiber optic cables.
