Construction Superintendent Job Description
The Improve Group (IG) Construction Superintendent drives the successful implementation, and support of a wide variety of construction projects, many of which utilize state-of-the-art modular construction products and customized storage solutions for Military and DOD applications. The Construction Superintendent executes comprehensive project plans developed by IG Project Managers, to track and drive the efforts of all teams involved (internal and external partners) to project completion while providing ongoing clarity to all stakeholders (Project Manager, Leadership &amp; the customer) regarding the status of their assigned project.
This role involves continuous site operational support, thus 100% of time worked is to be based wherever the assigned construction project is located. Based upon current project load &amp; pipeline, our ideal candidate will be located in San Antonio, TX. We will also consider candidates located in Texas who reside within a 30-minute drive of one of the following airports: DFW, DAL, IAH, HOU, or AUS.

Project duration and location will range based upon project. Project assignment lengths will be based on project scope and need. Work schedules will fluctuate based upon project need. This role may consist of weekends and overnight shifts.
As a Construction Superintendent for Improve Group it is crucial to be strategic, resourceful, and excited by the opportunity to problem solve in the field.
Key Responsibilities
o Participate in necessary pre-construction meetings:
<ul>
<li>Informational meetings with Project Managers.</li>
<li>Site-visit and kickoff meeting with key stakeholders (as applicable).</li>
</ul>
o Site Support:
<ul>
<li>Coordinate and conduct regular travel to project sites for ongoing project support, as the complexity of each project requires. Prepare necessary reports related to such visits.</li>
<li>Responsible for coordination and ensuring proper quality of service/product and timely completion of all vendors and subcontractors.</li>
<li>Prioritize, enforce, and document safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both internal and external personnel at the construction site.</li>
<li>Oversee the job closeout process, including punch list items.</li>
<li>Document and track potential changes to scope, conditions, or direction from inspector/client. Communicate these items to Project Manager on project.</li>

o Logistics Management:
<ul>
<li>Communicate with Project Managers in terms of product orders, deliveries, and related logistics.</li>
<li>Communicate relevant deliveries received to Project Managers, whom then incorporate critical path items into Gantt schedules.</li>

o Project/Strategic Management:
<ul>
<li>Meticulously track the status of every project.</li>
<li>Strategically guide projects to completion in conjunction.</li>
<li>Communicate with Project Managers to ensure Gantt schedules for each project are maintained on a weekly basis to ensure timely delivery of scope.</li>
<li>Coordinate daily check-ins and weekly status meetings with an on-site supervisor and/or implementation teams.</li>
<li>Participate in weekly status meetings with internal Project Manager and Operations Leader, to ensure smooth project delivery.</li>
<li>Prepare weekly status reports for Project Manager and Operations Leader.</li>
<li>Respond to any challenges and changes that arise.</li>

o Closeout successfully completed projects:

Required Skills/Experience:

<li>If holding a Bachelors degree in construction; 2+ year experience as a Superintendent is required</li>

Financial Controls

<li>Monitor and report on daily labor hours, quantities installed, and overall crew productivity.</li>
<li>Track and analyze material and labor variances in coordination with project managers so that maximum profits can be gained.</li>
</ul>
 
Success of this position is measured by:

<li>Safety performance across all assigned project sites.</li>
<li>Rework frequency, quality compliance, and associated costs.</li>
<li>Labor productivity compared to budgeted targets.</li>
<li>Resolution and frequency of customer complaints.</li>
<li>Number and severity of regulatory non-compliance issues.</li>
</ul>
 
To perform this job successfully the employee must have the following:
 
<ul>
<li>An Associates of Science degree in Construction Management and/or equivalent experience.</li>
<li>10 years of design-build construction experience.</li>
<li>The ability to operate a computer, common software, and communication devices.</li>
<li>The ability to demonstrate a high level of plant process improvement knowledge.</li>
<li>The ability to communicate at a high level, both receiving and disseminating information for clear understanding.</li>
<li>The ability to understand broad direction and then formulate and execute detailed complex plans to meet that direction.</li>
<li>The ability to make complex judgments in the interest of the company and employees.</li>
<li>The ability to demonstrate, and be considered a leader in, company values.</li>
</ul>
 
Duties may also include other related management and engineering activities as assigned by his/her supervisor. Individuals will be selected and trained for this position at the discretion of the Vice President.
