Summary:
The J’s Life Enrichment department provides support coordination to those who need it for participation in J programs. Life Enrichment services are designed to meet the individual needs of the participants with disabilities who benefit from extra support as they strive for success within community, recreation, and/or academic settings. Our Theatre Unlimited Show Instructor (TU Show Instructor) is a part time seasonal position. (The Theatre Unlimited Program has two running seasons. The Fall season runs from August through December, and the Winter season runs from January through May.) TU Show Instructor administrates, creates, and implements adaptive, universally designed theatre experiences. Working collaboratively with the production team, Life Enrichment and J theatre departments, and other J departments, the TU Show Instructor is responsible for overseeing the Theatre Unlimited program from show development and auditions through final performance and even possibly off-season skill-building workshops.
 
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Work cooperatively with the Life Enrichment Coordinator (LE Coordinator), Life Enrichment Manager (LE Manager), Music Accompanist, Production Assistants and all actors, and volunteers to effectively execute all Theatre Unlimited activities.</li>
<li>Working with the Stage Manager and Music Accompanist, assign roles. Assignments should match to cast member’s strengths and interests. All participants are cast.</li>
<li>Contribute artistic vision of the show in collaboration with LE Coordinator and LE Manager, keeping in mind the cast members’ abilities.</li>
<li>Plan rehearsal details and conduct rehearsals and performances in a fun but safe manner. Communicate plans with LE Coordinator, who will then draft a game plan. </li>
<li>Together with LE Coordinator, have a pre rehearsal meeting (10-15 minutes prior to rehearsal). LE Coordinator will introduce the meeting, and TU Show Instructor will review game plan and rehearsal schedule.</li>
<li>Work alongside the Technical Director at the Jewish Community Center to ensure a safe stage set up is achieved.</li>
<li>Communicate needs that are related to other departments outside of the Life Enrichment Department at the J through LE Coordinator.</li>
<li>Block the show and teach the cast. Provide simple choreography as needed.</li>
<li>Assist actors with character development while sharing with them the vision for the show.</li>
<li>Develop a costume plot with the Costumer. Keep in mind ease of use and allocated budget.</li>
<li>Along with Production Assistants, ensure all materials are gathered and put away after rehearsals and performances. Ensure any materials that must be returned are accounted for. </li>
<li>Be mindful of allocated budget and ensure that the production is completed within budget. All purchased must be made through LE Coordinator/LE Manager.</li>
<li>Communicate respectfully with participants and proactively address their concerns.</li>

<li>Assisting with makeup area setup and strike as needed as well as cleaning makeup area spaces before and after use.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assisting with crowd control in Scare Zones and in&nbsp;Haunt&nbsp;queue lines when/ if needed.</li>
<li>Ensuring safe behavior of guests, Scare-Actors and Entertainers in conjunction with the Entertainment Supervisors and Stage Managers.</li>
<li>Assisting with the cleaning and sanitation of the backstage makeup areas and theatre areas backstage.</li>
<li>Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health &amp; Safety responsibilities by following established Six Flags Fiesta Texas policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.</li>
<li>Previous airbrush experience a plus.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Perform to the best of your ability to scare and interact with guests in the area you are assigned.</li>
<li>Work in areas that may include dark rooms, loud music, fog, strobe lights, animatronic effect and may be outside.</li>
<li>Follow all guidelines provided and reviewed during training including but not limited to the following:
<ul>
<li>Stay in character at all times while guest facing.</li>
<li>Work with Host, Escort or Supervisor if there is an emergency or issue to be addressed.</li>
<li>Do not touch guests or scare children in strollers</li>
<li>Do not excessively scare a single guest or group to the exclusion of other guests.</li>
<li>Do not stop performing to chat with other Scare-Actors, Supervisors, or Team Members.</li>
<li>Keep your own safety and the safety of the guests in mind during your performance.</li>
<li>Walk, scare and interact with people when they walk through your area.</li>

<li>Remain in your assigned area until dismissed by the Supervisor.</li>

<li>Diligently follow all scheduling in regards to meals and breaks.</li>
<li>Keep guest safety and satisfaction in mind during performance in your area, including but not limited to guiding guests to the next area, maintaining order, and assist guests by answering questions if an emergency arises.</li>
<li>Ensure general housekeeping for the haunted houses, break areas, make-up area and Show Wardrobe.</li>
<li>Adhere to and enforce all park policies and procedure as outlined in the Seasonal Handbook and Department Standard Operating Procedure Manual.</li>
<li>Report any unsafe acts and/or conditions to the Supervisor immediately.</li>
<li>Train new personnel as needed.</li>

The ideal candidate would have previous supervisor experience, be organized, self-motivated, encouraging, and be able to effectively lead a group of diverse&nbsp;Performers and Scare Actors for our Fright Fest season.&nbsp; This job is fun, challenging, and deals with both park guests as well as cast and crew members.&nbsp; Communication Skills are a must.&nbsp;
General leadership/ Haunted House/ Scare Zone and/or Theatre experience is a plus. &nbsp;
