Position Overview:

About the Department and Role
The Grant Writer’s primary responsibilities are primarily focused on public contracts and include public research; proposal development, writing, and assembly; managing reporting to public funders; and assisting with JobTrain’s other development activities, including events.&nbsp; Major Duties and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Identify and prequalify new private funding sources, including attending RFP review sessions</li>
<li>Write and assemble applications working closely with, Program, Impact, and Finance staff to develop project descriptions, evaluation plans, and budgets to secure funding that matches JobTrain’s goals, objectives, and values</li>
<li>Develop, cultivate, and steward effective, long-term working relationships with funders to facilitate approval of grant funding </li>
<li>Facilitate cross-functional communication and collaboration with Program, Finance, and Impact teams to prepare and submit required reports to funders in a timely fashion</li>
<li>Maintain the private application and reporting calendar and database to track and manage the lifecycle of each grant agreement, including research; submission deadlines; approval; award; progress reports; and interim and final reporting </li>
<li>Facilitate grant agreement review and submission</li>
<li>Assist with private grant research, applications, and reports, as needed</li>
<li>Participate in the development of short-term and long-term fundraising plans and projections and provide progress/status tracking reports</li>
<li>Assist with JobTrain’s other development activities including events</li>
<li>Other duties related to successful fundraising and development</li>
</ul>
Qualifications Experience
<ul>
<li>Minimum 5 years of experience writing, assembling, and managing grant applications</li>
<li>Demonstrated grant-writing experience leading to successful results</li>
<li>Experience with Bay Area funding landscape is preferred</li>
</ul>
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
<ul>
<li>Job Knowledge: Relevant and up-to-date knowledge of the public application writing and assembly process; experience ability to identifying and qualifying funding opportunities; understanding of public contract and private grant application, management, and reporting processes</li>
<li>Planning and Organization: Demonstrated track record of managing multiple projects and setting and meeting goals in a fast-changing and deadline driven environment with strong attention to detail. Ability to set priorities, analyze and resolve problems, and make decisions in a timely fashion</li>
<li>Financial Budgeting / Projection: Ability to understand financial data and accurately develop / review budgets</li>
<li>Teamwork / Collaboration Interpersonal Skill: Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a diverse department and organization</li>
<li>Communications: Strong verbal communication skills and outstanding written communication skills which includes an ability to articulate key priorities in an application and generate reports that highlight JobTrain’s programs and outcomes. English fluency required</li>
<li>Computer Skills: Strong computer skills: MS Office, Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint; donor databases (Salesforce preferred); web; and other technology and applications necessary to perform the job </li>

Compensation and Benefits&nbsp;JobTrain offers a competitive salary, numerous health benefit plans and premium coverage of 90%, vision and dental, flex spending and HSA programs, 401K with a 5% match after joining, EAP and emergency services, vacation time, paid sick leave, long-term disability and life insurance.&nbsp; We also pay employees for 10 observed holidays including a whole week off between Christmas Eve and New Years Day. The full pay range for this role is $66,560 - $88,904.89.&nbsp; The hiring range is expected to be $66,560 - $77,308.71 depending upon skills, background and related experience.

SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for creating and coordinating grants to support the organization’s annual operations and program development, seeking to increase external support for the organization and its programs to strengthen the quality of services and to expand programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>Researches and identifies new funding opportunities from private foundations, corporations, and state and federal agencies.</li>
<li>Develops, creates, writes, prepares, and completes grant proposals.</li>
<li>Develops and updates proposal calendar; tracks and communicates results of proposal submissions.</li>
<li>Maintains the quality-control activities required to ensure the accuracy and adequacy of each document or publication, including but not limited to in-process and final reviews, researching of appropriate data and information, and editing for compliance with all applicable specifications and standards.</li>
<li>Gains and maintains familiarity with past and current funded proposals and with all organizational funding opportunities.</li>
<li>Gains and maintains an understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and the organization.</li>
<li>Organizes and oversees the maintenance and updating of a gift opportunities database to include all proposals and other departmental funding status.</li>
<li>Coordinates all aspects of government grant writing, including but not limited to complete comprehension of grant requirements and financial and program reporting.</li>
<li>Works with program staff and business manager to collect the most accurate and up-to-date information on the organization’s programs and program needs and conduct timely and accurate reporting for each grant.</li>
<li>Assists with communicating grant information to board members, key community organizations, and the public.</li>
<li>Works with other potential funding opportunities to design and execute collaborative grant initiatives.</li>
<li>Performs other related duties as assigned by management.</li>
