POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant Vice President for Human Resources will serve in a strategic leadership role in Human Resources. Reporting to the Vice President for Finance, Human Resources &amp; Business Development, the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources will be responsible for leading the Office of Human Resources in planning and achieving HR goals and objectives as it relates to the Colleges strategic plan and mission. Areas of responsibility include recruitment, benefits management, training and professional development, employee relations, time and leave administration, performance management, employee recognition programs, compensation and payroll processes, and policy and program compliance.
The Assistant Vice President is directly responsible for the following:
Develop and lead the Office of Human Resources in a manner that serves as a model for professional competency teamwork, and innovation. Provides consultation to management on strategic staffing plans.
Oversee the operations and administration of all human resources services functions which includes appointments,on-boarding, orientation, benefits and time and leave administration,compensation, payroll processes, salary changes, promotions, reclassifications training and staff development, budget, and labor relations.
The AVP is responsible for the State Tax Levy and Non-Tax Levy Payroll department and oversees all aspects of the payroll process for both City and State payrolls of which Hunter is the only CUNY School with two payroll systems . This includes ensuring that compensation is correct and payments are initiated on time
Direct the performance evaluation process for administrative staff, and consult with administrative managers and faculty who need assistance documenting performance issues
Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws that affect the college, including compliance for mandatory training programs
Working collaboratively with the College Affirmative Action Officer to ensure that the university's affirmative action policies and protocols, especially in matters of faculty and staff recruitment, are administered and utilized effectively
Plan and implement professional development and employee relations programs that help the college improve services level outcomes and increase employee engagement
Support the College’s goal to build human potential, deploy resources in pursuit of maximum competitive advantage, and sensibly and ethically use the College's resources for optimal talent management
Provide counsel to and work collaboratively with senior executives, administrators and chairpersons on a broad range of issues including labor relations and employment law, human resource policies and practices, and the development of college policy and protocols
Oversee the successful implementation of college policies, procedures and practices pertaining to personnel and payroll matters
Collaborate with technical team to design, integrate and implement human resource software systems for better efficiency.
Direct the continued upgrade of the Adjunct Employee Management System (AEMS) and is accountable for onboarding two thousand adjuncts a semester through the appointment or reappointment process and the data driven decision-making processes. Works with the Academic areas at Hunter to provide updated and timely information related to adjunct data. This data sharing facilitates a collaborative effort to ensure that adjuncts are paid on schedule.
Direct the preparation of and represent the College in Civil Service staff disciplinary actions and grievances and enforce policies, rules and regulations, and contractual agreements related to classified staff
Partner with the CUNY Institute for State and Local Governance (ISLG) to examine and implement administrative process improvements in the School of Arts and Sciences. This strategic collaboration facilitated a new set of best practices, which will continue to be rolled out in the future.
Represent the College in matters pertaining to Human Resources on the University level and above and collaborate effectively with other CUNY-wide Human Resources officials and Confers with College and University Stakeholders to create workforce management plans addressing issues such as succession, recruitment sources, and employee career development.
Serves as a valuable resource at the Central Office, as well as on campus. Participate in small focus groups and works closely with the OHRM team tasked with changing the culture at CUNY. Leveraged her experience and expertise to review and revise existing policies and procedures so that they add value to the workflow. Continue to nurture the relationship with the Central Office. Recommend new and improved measures for performance evaluations.
Serve as a member of the Senior Cabinet
Serve on various university and college committees: HEO Screening, Workplace Violence etc.

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

Liberal Studies at New York University invites applications for three Postdoctoral Faculty Fellow positions to begin September 1, 2026, pending administrative and budgetary approval.
The Liberal Studies Core is a dynamic liberal arts curriculum that provides a global and interdisciplinary foundation for nearly 100 NYU majors. The curriculum emphasizes conceptual and spatial frameworks to trace the movement of ideas and the interconnectivity of material culture, through the study of different texts, histories, exchanges, structures and systems, languages, arts, and writing from early antiquity through contemporary times. Small seminar-style classes and close faculty-student interaction ensure the benefits of a liberal arts college within a large urban research university. We are especially interested in hiring qualified candidates who can contribute through their research, teaching and service to the intellectual diversity and excellence of the Liberal Studies community.
Liberal Studies Postdoctoral Faculty Fellows teach two courses each semester in the Core Curriculum. Fellows work closely with an assigned Faculty Mentor, they attend pedagogy workshops that explore innovative approaches to interdisciplinary global teaching, and they have the opportunity to lead faculty development workshops or host program wide events in their area of scholarly, creative, or pedagogical expertise.The initial appointment is for one (1) year, and it may be renewed for two additional years, based upon satisfactory performance reviews and mutual agreement.&nbsp; Postdoctoral Faculty Fellows are limited to a maximum of three (3) years in rank; they are non-tenure track.

PhD in Political Theory, Philosophy, History, or related fields in the social sciences. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to draw on ancient and early modern sources in their teaching with a global emphasis in the Global Works and Society sequence of the Core Curriculum. Candidates must embrace interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches from a variety of global perspectives and must have the ability to examine relationships of power and to interrogate the historical roots of current challenges.
WRITING (one position)
PhD in Writing Studies, Creative Writing, Nonfiction Writing, Rhetoric, Journalism, Translation Studies, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or closely related field. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to teach first-year writing in an interdisciplinary and global-focused LS Core Curriculum. Candidates with additional specialization in TESOL, science/environmental writing, and/or qualitative research writing are strongly encouraged to apply.
Minimum qualifications: Successful candidates must have a PhD conferred by the date of appointment, or have received the PhD no more than three years before the date of appointment. Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor Liberal Studies - ARTS &amp; CULTURES New York University Arts &amp; Science Liberal Studies at New York University invites applications for a one year Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor position to begin September 1, 2026, pending administrative and budgetary approval. The Liberal Studies Core is a dynamic liberal arts curriculum that provides a global and interdisciplinary foundation for nearly 100 NYU majors. The Global Liberal Studies Bachelor of Arts is an innovative global studies major grounded in the spatial, conceptual, and temporal understandings of a highly interconnected world, with a program of study that is distinguished by experiential learning, study away, and independent research focused in an interdisciplinary concentration. In both the LS Core and the GLS major, small, seminar-style classes and close faculty-student interaction provide students with the benefits of a liberal arts college within a large urban research university. We are especially interested in hiring qualified candidates who can contribute their research, teaching and service to the intellectual diversity and excellence of Liberal Studies and NYU. We seek applicants for the following position: ARTS &amp; CULTURES PhD in the humanities, broadly conceived (Classics, English, Comparative Literature, Global Literature, Art History (including Museum Studies), Anthropology with a Humanistic Focus, Archaeology, Indigenous Studies, Music or related fields). We seek candidates with a specialization in the Ancient World or the Global Middle Ages and Renaissance, and with a preferred focus on premodern digital humanities, archival practices, or the arts of Asia. Candidates must be able to teach with a global, interdisciplinary, and intersectional focus in the Arts and Cultures sequence of the Core Curriculum. This sequence requires exposure, training, and methodological background to teach undergraduate students about literature, as well as visual, sonic, and/or performance arts produced around the world, including in traditionally underrepresented areas from antiquity to early modern times. Minimum qualifications: PhD by the date of appointment; three years of college-level teaching experience; and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Summary of Job Responsibilities: The Development Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing development strategies to support the Conway School’s fundraising initiatives while fostering strong relationships with donors. Key fundraising efforts include the Annual Fund, Conway Grows online giving day, Financial Aid Endowment, Community Projects Fund, Legacy Circle planned giving program, and foundation grants. This role also oversees the activities of the board Development Committee and staff Development Team.
As part of a small organization, the Development Manager works closely with administrative staff, faculty, and trustees, and external contacts such as donors and alums, foundations, businesses, organizations, and government agencies.
Primary Areas of Responsibility:
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Annual Fund Management: Lead efforts to secure $150,000 annually in unrestricted gifts.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Major Donor Stewardship: Cultivate relationships with current and prospective major donors.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Community Projects Fund (CPF): Identify and engage individuals, businesses, and foundations to support the CPF, which funds projects in under-served and under-resourced communities.
&nbsp; &nbsp;∙&nbsp;Foundation Relations: Maintain existing foundation partnerships, submit grant proposals, and seek new grant opportunities.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Project Funding Support: Collaborate with the Projects Manager to secure grants and donations for client partners and project funding.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Planned Giving Initiative: Expand Conway’s Legacy Circle program for planned giving.

&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Project Management: Coordinate bulk mailings, email announcements, and social media content for seasonal appeals.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Donor Database Management: Maintain and update donor records, process donations, generate acknowledgement letters, notify donors of outstanding pledges, and distribute year-end tax receipts to Sustainer donors.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Multi-year Planning: Update multi-year development plans.
Essential Qualifications &amp; Skills:
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Three years (minimum) of fundraising and management experience in academic or non-governmental organizational settings.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Successful fundraising experience generating major gifts and foundation grants to support academic programs, project recruitment, and financial aid.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Superior communication skills, including creative and engaging written and oral expression.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Engaging and enthusiastic personality; humor and flexibility.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Dedication to collaborative decision making, with ability to forge consensus.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Tech savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Gmail/Google Docs). Strong preference for experience with donor database software, CRM/HubSpot, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and WordPress.
&nbsp; &nbsp; ∙&nbsp;Must be willing to travel as needed to represent the school.
