Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Radiology Operations Supervisor, performs those duties directly involved with a variety of Ultrasound imaging procedures and applying high frequency wound waves to provide static,real time, and doppler images/wave forms of the internal human anatomy to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and pathology. Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Radiology Operations Supervisor, performs those duties directly&nbsp;involved with a variety of Ultrasound imaging procedures and applying high frequency wound waves to provide static,real time, and doppler images/wave forms of the internal human anatomy to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of&nbsp;diseases and pathology. Ultrasound exams are dependent upon the quality of images produced which is relative to the&nbsp;skill of the sonographer. Is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Carries out policies and&nbsp;procedures in accordance with all regulatory bodies. Operates the equipment used to produce optimal images.&nbsp;Operates equipment safely and maintains standards while performing all types of procedures within the scope of the&nbsp;A.R. D.M.S. In collaboration with staff radiologists, this job independently performs advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. Serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Education
Required -&nbsp;Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography.
 Work Experience
Required -&nbsp;None.
Preferred - 2 years of sonographer experience.
 Certifications
Required -&nbsp;Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible (required within 1 year of hire).
Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty according to facility need.
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

<li>Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.</li>
<li>
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process

<li>
Knowledge of the anatomy of the liver, gallbladder, aorta, spleen, kidneys, bile ducts, and pancreas and ability to perform abdominal ultrasound and the pathology of these organs to provide radiologists with a preliminary diagnosis.

Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.

Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.

Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.

Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (including assisting radiologists in guided procedures in a variety of settings).

Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.

Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
