Interstate Waste Services is looking for an industry experienced Dispatcher in the Transportation field for our Yonkers, NY faciltiy.
Highlights:
Monday-Friday&nbsp; Early morining Full-time shift
$65,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year
5+ years dispatching experience.
Experience working with Routeware, Tower and/or Transman a plus.
About Us:
Interstate Waste Services is one of the largest and fastest growing private sanitation companies in the country! We currently service customers in Connecticut, Southern New York State, New York City, New Jersey, and recently expanded our operations of transfer stations into Pennsylvania and Ohio, where we have also acquired a landfill. We are looking for an experienced Lead Dispatcher to take on the responsibility of live dispatching a group of 20-25 drivers transporting containers of municipal and commercial waste between our local Transfer Stations and our rail yards in northern and central New Jersey.
Job Highlights
The Dispatcher will utilize our fleet management software and other operating applications to monitor volumes at each Transfer Station and progress of each Driver. The Lead Dispatcher will notify Drivers of their scheduled routes, and make real-time routing change as needed. The Lead Dispatcher must keep an open line of communication with each Transfer Station Manager as well as the Rail Fleet Manager. The Lead Dispatcher is also responsible for promoting and monitoring employee safety and take proactive steps to identify, evaluate and remove safety hazards.
This is a new role, and the successful candidate must have experience managing both themselves and others. The Lead Dispatcher is a self-directed role, and will be responsible for establishing and documenting procedures for live dispatching.

Additional Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Establish and maintain a positive relationship with all Drivers as well as other colleagues as our depots and transfer stations.</li>
<li>Ensure Drivers and trucks are being utilized to their full potential.</li>
<li>Manage daily truck activity to ensure driver productivity is commensurate with hours worked.</li>
<li>Set up crew sheets and notify all employees of their schedules.</li>
<li>Continuously monitor hours worked and ensure DOT compliance for Drivers.</li>
<li>Continuously monitor Driver performance and provide coaching as well as discipline as necessary.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with safety policies and protocols as well as federal, state and local regulations.</li>
<li>Perform routine inspections on the trucks and equipment to ensure proper care and routine maintenance.</li>
<li>Review Driver requests for container switches or repairs, and enter service tickets into the company database.</li>
<li>Ensure any and all accidents and injuries are thoroughly documented and distribute reports to the Safety and Risk teams for follow up.</li>
<li>Prepare and Deliver Regular Reports to Senior Management.</li>

 Requirements and Qualifications::
Required experiences &amp; skills
<ul>
<li>5+ years of Dispatching experience.</li>
<li>1+ years of live dispatching</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to work independently.</li>
<li>Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.</li>
<li>Knowledge of applicable traffic, transportation, and other laws and regulations.</li>
<li>Intermediate to excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.</li>
</ul>
Preferred experiences &amp; skills
<ul>
<li>Fluency in Spanish</li>
<li>Completion of relevant undergraduate degree or certificate program</li>
<li>Experience from the sanitation industry</li>
<li>Experience working with Routeware, Tower and/or Transman</li>
</ul>
