JOB SUMMARY:
An industry leader in premium Black Angus Beef seeks a motivated individual looking for an opportunity to put his or her operations experience to use in a fast-paced environment. The Operations Manager is responsible for supporting and leading the harvest, fabrication, ground beef, value added, e-commerce, grading and distribution center. This position works closely with departmental managers and the executive team to support plant functions and operational efficiency. 
Position is on-site and must report to the Arkansas City, KS facility. This is not a remote position. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
<ul>
<li>Oversees all aspects of the beef production operations which include human safety, food safety and quality, humane handling of animals, and compliance through the processing chain to the DC.</li>
<li>This role is heavily responsible not only for knowing the operations of the business but supporting the exempt level teams to manage and influence their hourly team members for successful results.</li>
<li>This position will lead, engage, and grow the operational management team.</li>
<li>Performance management and KPI goals are set, discussed, and met by support and engaging teams. </li>
<li>Monitor and maintain positive working relationships and compliance with the management team and any outside agencies. </li>
<li>Partner with accounting, procurement and sales for smooth day-to-day production</li>
<li>Must understand key accounting financials, yields, metrics, values, and spreadsheets.</li>
<li>Must communicate effectively and throughout different levels of organization. </li>
<li>Work with maintenance teams and support healthy working relationship between maintenance and operations to meet daily operational goals. </li>
<li>Manage operational expenses and report expense to upper management</li>
<li>Work with HR &amp; EHS by placing people first in the workforce while supporting employee training and development.</li>
<li>Track and analyze operational metrics and predict future needs; work with the team to be more proactive versus reactive </li>
<li>Must maintain a professional attitude and composure even in stressful situations </li>
</ul>
QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural, Animal Science, Meat Science, Business Management or related field required.</li>
<li>5+ years of operational experience in the beef industry or other protein industry </li>
<li>Strong understanding of beef processing, or overall protein processing </li>
<li>Proven leadership and people management skills.</li>
<li>Knowledge of regulatory compliance such as USDA and OSHA</li>
<li>Must be able to use Microsoft Office </li>
</ul>

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul>
<li> Bilingual speaking preferred.</li>
<li> Working knowledge of ground beef, value added, and further processing is preferred. </li>
</ul>


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
<ul>
<li>This position is predominantly in production with office work. When inside the plant appropriate PPE is required such as hard hat, steel toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, hair net and beard net if applicable. Varying temperature exposure is normal and moderate noise. This position may work up to 12 hours pending production runs and 6-day work week. </li>
<li>Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, use both hands and arms to handle, feel, reach, push and pull and type.</li>
<li>Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 75 pounds.</li>
<li>Must be able to bend, stoop, climb ladders, and access emergency reporting locations in case of an emergency.</li>
<li>Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. </li>

Graduation from high school or equivalent and seven years progressively responsible administrative experience in the construction and maintenance of County highways and streets, including four years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. Position Summary:
This is highly responsible administrative and supervisory work managing the Public Works Operations Division. Which is responsible for maintaining all County maintained roads and related infrastructure. An employee assigned to this classification is responsible plans, organizes, directs, and controls the various activities of the Public Works Division, including but not limited to: setting and developing annual goals for the Division, developing and managing the Division’s budget, allocating and managing resources across Operational Units, maintaining all County-maintained roads and related infrastructure, and ensuring the efficient and effective management of all Division resources, including all staff, equipment, and materials. Work is performed under the direction of a higher-level supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, reports and observation of results obtained.
Examples of Duties:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS This is an emergency essential classification. &nbsp;Upon declaration of a disaster and/or an emergency, all employees in this classification are required to work.&nbsp; Exudes a positive customer service focus. Advocates building organizational culture through aligning decisions with the County's core values.
 Supervises and coordinates the activities of subordinate supervisors and employees including determining work procedures and schedules; issuing instructions and assigning duties; reviewing work; recommending personnel actions; conducting performance reviews; and conducting departmental training and orientation.
 Oversees vacancies, employee selection, onboarding, and placement within the Division’s Units to ensure workforce readiness. 
 Supervises all County road and highway operations; supervises the building and reconstruction of streets and roads. Prepares written cost estimates, including equipment labor and materials, for budgets and projects.&nbsp; Ensures that data within the asset and work&nbsp;management system is maintained and work orders updated in order to track maintenance work orders from complaint to completion. &nbsp; Makes frequent inspections of all County maintained road ways to determine the maintenance needs of roadways surfaces, shoulders, structures, and drainage facilities; assigns employees to make such repairs. Checks daily with crews building, rebuilding and grading roads to ensure that the work is proceeding according to plan and to resolve any problems that may have arisen; makes regular and routine checks throughout the road system to determine needed repairs.
 Oversees the requisitions &nbsp;of asphalt, limerock, gravel, sand and other materials used; Directs subordinate supervisors as needed in the asphaltic patching of streets and roads in the clearing of road rights-of-way and general grass mowing. &nbsp;
Acts as field superintendent; plans, lays out, and supervises all work including building and rebuilding bridges; installing culverts, laying and repairing pipe; cleaning and widening of canals and ditches, herbiciding, and planning in advance the positions of all heavy equipment and assigning operators.
 Meets with the general public to answer questions regarding operational activities in the area; receives public requests for information and complaints related to work activities; and discusses these requests and complaints directly with members of the public. Contacts local officials about maintenance and construction activities in their areas as directed by high level supervisor. Drives a County and/or personal vehicle to perform required duties to site locations and/or to attend meetings.&nbsp; Performs the duties listed, as well as those assigned, with professionalism and a sense of urgency.
