Summary Statement
The incumbent in this position will be working in the Delaware Psychiatric Center (DPC) at the Jane E. Mitchell Building (JEM). The incumbent is tasked with providing security and safety, enforcing institutional rules regulations and policies that are relative for the male and female clients from the Department of Correction. Significant aspects of the work involve: the possibility of dealing with crisis and/or emergency situations, foot patrol of the patient units, conducting room/building searches, and monitoring patients in a day hall setting during meals and in group activities.

<li>Observes the behavior of clients and alerts nursing and other clinical staff of behavioral changes; monitors conduct of visitors; and takes action to de-escalate potentially violent or disruptive situations.</li>
 
<li>Responds to psychiatric emergencies involving combative clients and assists in detaining trespassers, violators and searching for missing clients.</li>
 
<li>Maintains control of persons and property in compliance with policies relative to safety, security and orderliness.</li>
 
<li>Monitors and ensures the safety of state property, as well as safety and location of staff and visitors by performing work such as controlling ingress and egress of people through a secure point of access, within the forensic building and units.</li>
 
<li>Answers internal emergency calls received via the facility emergency phone line, relays information to the appropriate authorities, and monitors internal alarm systems.</li>
 
<li>Uses electronic intercom and closed-circuit camera systems to communicate with staff to accurately identify and verify authorized access, granting sector by sector access from control center.</li>
 
<li>Responds to internal hazards, risks, fires or other emergencies.</li>
 
<li>Makes regular rounds of the forensic buildings, units and perimeter and ensures that all safety devices on doors and windows are operable and secure.</li>
 
<li>Conducts inspections and searches of clients, visitors, grounds and building perimeter for weapons or other contraband and takes client counts.</li>

This role includes collaborating with the healthcare team to implement treatment plans, monitor progress, and provide crisis intervention as needed, fostering mental health and well-being.&nbsp;
Key Responsibilities

<li>Provides direct psychiatric care to patients via onsite and telepsychiatry services for scheduled appointments, emergency, or urgent care visit.&nbsp;</li>

Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) is an evidenced based model that provides wrap around mental health services in the community to adults experiencing persistent and severe mental health issues, and criminal justice involvement. The FACT RN is a part of a multidisciplinary team and is primarily responsible for providing medication support and physical health appointment coordination support to clients. FACT RN is also responsible for managing the FACT medication room. Most of the services provided by the FACT RN take place in the community, MDC, and other nontraditional settings which includes clients’ homes and shelters.&nbsp;

Responsibilities
Elwyn is currently seeking a Mental Health Professional to support our wonderful new Young Adult RTF (Residential Treatment) program, set to launch in March 2025.
 The Mental Health Professional will develop, implement, and document individual progress for individuals with behavioral health and forensic issues who are residents of Elwyn's Young Adult Residential Treatment Facility (YA-RTF). Provides supervision and programmatic decision-making. Completes mental status exams utilizing current knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, version IV (DSM-IV). Provides supportive counseling and acts as an advocate to represent the individual's needs and rights with all outside support service agencies, families, etc. Assists and supports individuals in all activities of daily living. Designs and facilitates therapeutic groups. Plans and implements community integration plans.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
Essential Functions of the Role

Qualifications

<li>Specialized field of study should be nursing.</li>
