Primary Purpose:
The Library Media Specialist will promote the success of all students by providing a balance between print and technology while ensuring continuous access to digital resources. The Library Media Specialist will provide leadership and expertise in the selection, acquisition, evaluation and organization of information resources and technologies in all formats, as well as expertise in the ethical use of information. The Library Media Specialist will supervise and manage the school library/media center and provide services and resources that allow students to develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and using information to solve problems. The Library Media Specialist will serve as an instructional technology specialist to ensure the library/media center is involved in instructional programs of the campus and will assist campus principals and teachers in integration and use of instructional technology.

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is seeking a Special Collections Archivist to join our library staff at the DAR Headquarters building in Washington, DC.
The Special Collections Archivist will apply their knowledge of current archival standards and best practices to arrange, preserve, and provide access to the DAR's Special Collections. Our Special Collections include such items as manuscripts, file case items, family bibles, and personal genealogical research papers.
The Society's national headquarters complex includes the DAR Library, one of the nation's premier genealogical research centers. The Library collection contains over 200,000 physical volumes, including genealogical compilations, record abstracts, and other materials such as family histories, cemetery record transcriptions, and Bible records that are available only at the DAR Library.
Essential Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>This role is responsible for processing new collections and preserving existing collection materials. This will include performing physical processing of materials, naming and numbering new collections, creating a hierarchical catalog record, and developing online finding aides.</li>
<li>This position will develop guidelines, subject headings, policies, and procedures to ensure proper collection management.</li>
<li>Oversees the overall maintenance and condition of the Special Collections materials, identifies conservation and preservation issues, and works with internal staff and external vendors to ensure materials are properly protected.</li>

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Warehouse Asset Control Administrator serves as the central steward for tracking both Astound-owned rental assets and client-owned property stored at the facility. Acting as a “librarian” for the warehouse, this role ensures that all goods moving in and out are properly logged, monitored, and recorded in the system. While the physical handling of items is performed by warehouse staff, and client communication is handled by project leads, this position ensures the administrative integrity of the asset tracking process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
Asset Library Management:

<li>Maintain up-to-date records of all warehouse-stored assets (Astound and client-owned).</li>
<li>Monitor check-out and return activity, updating the system in real-time or within set SLAs.</li>
<li>Oversee documentation related to asset movement, condition reports, and confirmations.</li>

System Stewardship:
<ul>
<li>Ensure the asset tracking platform (e.g., Excel sheets, WMS, or inventory tools) reflects current asset location, ownership, and usage status.</li>
<li>Input and audit data provided by warehouse team and project leads.</li>

Inbound/Outbound Admin Coordination:

<li>Verify return documentation and ensure asset status updates post-return (e.g., "returned in good condition", "damaged", "missing parts").</li>
<li>Coordinate basic labeling, tagging, or ID assignment for traceability.</li>

Internal Collaboration:

<li>Work closely with warehouse employees to stay informed about actual physical movements.</li>

QUALIFICATIONS:

Performs other duties as assigned. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Issues and controls subordinates’ work assignments and schedules. Supervises and provides guidance, instruction, and training to employees. Supervises and coordinates activities of a library unit or section such as circulation desk, periodical section, shelving of library material, microfilm section, book processing section, or inter-loan section. Supervises and processes interlibrary loan requests by filling out those received and requesting materials from other libraries. Supervises and conducts established library programs such as story hours, preschool and school programs, programs for senior citizens, etc. Answers patrons’ more complex inquiries regarding general reference and information topics, use of online resources, and utilization of library material and equipment. Supervises, determines, and prepares content and arrangement of library material for displays, exhibits, and special library programs. Supervises the checking of library email and keeps current with library news, announcements, programs, initiatives, etc. Under the direction and oversight of a Librarian, continually reviews library material and discards obsolete books, films, periodicals, etc. Supervises the charging and discharging of library material to users. Supervises the computation and collection of fines; makes changes and inspects books and other library material and equipment for damage; performs basic repairs of audio-visual and other library equipment and accessories. Reviews library membership applications for completeness as to name, address, and similar personal identification and records changes of such information. Lists overdue library material and completes overdue notices for notifying patrons. Supervises and compiles numerical reports on circulations, accessions, or other aspects of library operations. Supervises and files or shelves material using the Dewey Decimal Classification System and alphabetical filing systems beyond the initial letter of a word. Will be required to learn how to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units. Understands and uses basic computer hardware, peripherals, software, and operating system functions Demonstrates information literacy and understands common security protocols related to Internet use REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Ability to demonstrate a practical knowledge of library functions, services, terminology, techniques, procedures, and standard tools such as ILS (Integrated Library Systems), shelving arrangements, Dewey Decimal Classification System, and successful completion of relevant manager training within the organization. Three (3) years of experience demonstrating practical knowledge of library functions, services, terminology, techniques, procedures, and standard tools (card catalog, microfilm, shelving, circulation systems, and so forth.) OR Satisfactory completion of a two-year library technician course at an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of the non-leadership experience. Six (6) months of which must have been in a lead role over subordinate employees CDL B license is highly desirable. A NJ Driver’s license is required. ADDITIONAL RELEVANT SKILLS: Preference given to applicants with a master's in library science or currently earning a master's degree in library or information science from a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey college master's program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison College. Experience and/or demonstrated ability to manage staff and administer library programs. Knowledge of Jersey City’s population, geography, and/or local government preferred. Facility in a non-English language spoken in Jersey City (such as Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, Tagalog, etc.) desired. CDLB License highly desirable or commitment to earning this license within first year of employment in this position.
