Summary 
The Practical Nursing Instructor plays a crucial role in preparing students to become skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). This position involves being a team member with possible revolving roles across didactic, clinical, lab, and simulation settings. Instructors are responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that fosters student success while upholding high academic and professional standards. Other responsibilities include participating in accreditation activities, attending faculty training and meetings, contributing to curriculum development and implementation, assisting with lab and simulation experiences, verifying student competencies, maintaining student records, and cultivating and maintaining relationships with clinical sites.

What You'll Do:
Responsibilities of the Practical Nursing Instructor include, but are not limited to:

<li>Deliver instruction in classroom, clinical, lab, and simulation environments, covering theoretical content, clinical applications, skills training, and simulation exercises. </li>
<li>Facilitate engaging and interactive learning experiences that meet curriculum objectives and program outcomes.</li>
<li>Supervise and mentor students in clinical settings, ensuring safe and effective practice in patient care.</li>
<li>Participate in curriculum development, review, and revision to ensure alignment with accreditation standards, program outcomes, and industry best practices. </li>
<li>Create and maintain course materials, including lesson plans, objectives, assessments, and instructional resources for labs and simulations. </li>
<li>Supervise clinical instructors at clinical sites and maintain a presence in the facility.</li>
<li>Provide a detailed orientation for new part-time instructors and plan, organize, and provide annual training.</li>
<li>Stay current with nursing practice, education, and technology trends through professional development and continuing education. </li>
<li>Evaluate student performance through assessments, clinical evaluations, and skills pass-offs, providing constructive feedback and remediation as needed. </li>
<li>Adhere to professional and ethical standards, including the nursing code of ethics and the Utah Nurse Practice Act.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.</li>

What We're Looking For:

<li>Licensure &amp; Education: A current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Utah is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), or Nursing Education is preferred. An Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) with an active BNS enrollment will be considered.</li>
<li>Professional Experience: At least three years of clinical nursing experience are required. Teaching experience is preferred.</li>
<li>Instructional Skills: Proficiency in instructional technology, including Canvas and other learning management systems. Experience with simulation-based instruction and lab coordination is a plus.</li>

Summary Provides basic nursing care by assisting in the assessment of the resident on admission and on an ongoing basis. Remains knowledgeable about and communicates to the appropriate interdisciplinary team (IDT) member any significant change in condition. Accurately documents all assessments. Seeks guidance if unsure of any assessment findings. Participates in the care planning process for the resident. Updates the care plan when specific interventions indicate the need for revision. Communicates the plan to the appropriate IDT members along with the residents and their families. Implements necessary and appropriate nursing interventions relevant to the plan of care which includes nursing orders, physician orders, residents/families educational and environmental needs. Ensures interventions such as medication administration and treatments are accomplished in a safe and timely manner. Administers IV fluid only if IV certified. Documents interventions accurately and timely. Uses critical thinking skills when dealing with residents' changes in condition. Notifies the physician timely using the SBARR as the communication tool. Maintains composure during any crisis situation such as family dissatisfaction, staff disputes, or inclement weather in a calm and professional manner. Monitors the care of the residents closely to see that the care plan is being delivered effectively. Identifies problem areas and uses the QAPI process to actively address the situation for immediate problem resolution. Remains aware of the status of the residents to quickly identify behavioral changes or other untoward signs or symptoms. Answers call lights and/or assists with residents' ADLs as needed. Completes, at a minimum, twelve hours of offerings related to nursing related continuing education. Has a commitment to keep current with best nursing practices through knowledge of Bethesda's policies and self-study. May be assigned other duties as appropriate. Job Qualifications

<li>Education from an accredited school of nursing that results in becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse</li>

<li>Current LPN license in the state you will be working</li>

<li>CPR and AED certification required, or willing to obtain within six months of employment</li>

<li>IV certification required, or willing to obtain within six months of employment</li>
\n
<li>Long-term care experience preferred</li>
\n
<li>Must be able to assess the basic nursing care needs of the geriatric resident</li>
\n
<li>Must possess excellent communication skills to interact with residents, visitors and staff</li>
\n
<li>Time management and organizational skills required</li>
\n
<li>Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time</li>
\n
<li>Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary</li>

<li>Ability to transfer and move patients who vary with ability to assist weighing 200+lbs using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary</li>
