Job Description

<li>Makes occupied and unoccupied beds.</li>
<li>Ambulates patients and instructs on walker, cane and crutch walking as appropriate for assigned unit.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assists with pre-and post-operative care; positions patients as ordered; applies special equipment for safety; lifts and turns patients with proper and safe body mechanics and available resources.</li>
<li>Applies comfort and safety measures (side rails and call lights).&nbsp;</li>
<li>Sets up oxygen and suction equipment and other respiratory equipment for adults and/or neonates.</li>
<li>Applies dressings to Stage I and Stage II skin breakdown.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Prepares patient room for MD or RN assessment, evaluation, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Assists with procedures in the normal newborn nursery as directed.</li>
<li>Transports patients, equipment and/or supplies during urgent and emergent situations and to front door on discharge.</li>
<li>Responds to emergency situations, secures assistance and initiates basic life support.</li>
<li>Reports observations and documents appropriately.&nbsp; Promptly notifies RN of any change in patient condition.</li>
<li>Performs post-mortem care and transports bodies to the morgue when necessary.</li>
<li>Assumes responsibility for the care of patient’s prosthetic devices, hearing aides, dentures, eye glasses, etc.</li>

<li>Previous experience in a health care setting preferred with a demonstrated ability to relate to patients, family, nursing and medical staff.</li>

Job Description 
The Patient Care Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Under the supervision of an RN performs basic patient care activities.
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming and eating.</li>
<li>Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assists with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.</li>
<li>Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking. Able to function under stressful situations.</li>
<li>Utilizes critical thinking skills to successfully demonstrate the ability to prioritize and complete unit work quickly as the needs of the unit, patients and staff change.</li>
<li>Serves as liaison between patient care units and all other patient related departments.</li>
<li>Answers telephone, intercom and call lights in a polite manner using appropriate telephone etiquette and communicates information to the appropriate staff/family/patient.</li>
<li>Manages the overall unit workflow in concert with the charge RN and/or assistant manager, on an as needed basis.</li>
<li>Performs pre-census and validates daily admission, discharge and census lists, on an as needed basis.</li>

Qualifications 
Required:

<li>Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation</li>
<li>Certified Nursing Assistant,&nbsp;Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing school students&nbsp; with one semester of clinical completed</li>
<li>CPR – Basic Life Support</li>
<li>Physical Demands Requirement:

How You Will Make an Impact:The Medical Assistant provides essential support to both healthcare providers and patients; often the first point of contact for patients, contributing to a positive and reassuring patient experience. This role directly contributes to patient care by measuring vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting with minor medical procedures, which enhance the efficiency of healthcare delivery, creating a smoother and more patient-centric fertility journey.
What You Will Do:The Medical Assistant is responsible for the daily management of patients through administrative and clinical tasks to support the smooth operation of the Care Centers, Surgery Centers, and Laboratories. This position will coordinate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide the essential services needed. The Medical Assistant reports directly to the Practice Administrator.

<li>Prepare patients for examination, including TPR, weight, blood pressure, update health information, allergies, and current medication.</li>
<li>Document patient vitals, assessment, encounter type, and provider into EMR.</li>
<li>Communicate with physician and/or nurse practitioner, changes in patient condition, abnormal vitals, lab results, and abnormal patient response during testing/exam.</li>
<li>Prepare minor procedure trays and assist with procedures (i.e., hysteroscopy, endometrial and/or punch biopsy, cyst aspiration, Pap smears, GC/chlamydia testing, HSG testing, etc.).</li>
<li>Prep exam room respective to patient appointment and testing.</li>
<li>Educate patient on procedure(s) and provide answers prior to procedure.</li>
<li>Assist physician and/or nurse practitioner with patient examinations.</li>
<li>Maintain patient workflow to meet physician/nurse practitioner scheduling requirements.</li>
<li>Order and schedule lab tests as directed; review results and annotate appropriate disposition.</li>
<li>Order prescriptions/refills for patients prior to procedure; notify patient upon completion.</li>
<li>Disinfect room after each exam/appointment re-prep for next patient.</li>
<li>Equipment maintenance and sterilization; identify any need for supplies/parts/repair and notify Practice Administrator.</li>
<li>Order and maintain back-office supplies and reconcile monthly receipts/packing slips for submission to the business office.</li>
<li>Scan signed consents, office appointment forms, laboratory, and pathology reports into EMR.</li>
<li>Monitor medicine cabinet/refrigerator and order medications, as needed.</li>
<li>Perform urine pregnancy test, document results in EMR, and communicate with physician, nurse practitioner, or rad technician prior to exam/procedure.</li>
<li>Autoclave all used instruments, document size and type of instrument on package, change sterile/cleaning solution, and document in the soak-log.</li>
<li>Clean stationary room equipment, underside of exam tables, and provide clean/linens/supplies for all patient rooms’ weekly minimum, or as needed.</li>
<li>Maintain HIPAA and Confidentiality for all patient and clinic information, HIV confidentiality.</li>
<li>Understand and assess potential domestic violence and child abuse issues and report concerns to Medical Director or Practice Administrator.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>

What You Bring: 
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma Required.</li>
<li>Medical Assistant (MA) -or- Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) credential required.</li>
<li>BCLS certification required.</li>
<li>Phlebotomy certification preferred.</li>
<li>1+ year Medical Assistant -or- Licensed Practical Nursing experience preferred.</li>
<li>A minimum of two hundred (200) successful blood draws is required (with documentation)</li>

CCRM’s Compensation: The salary range represents the national average compensation for this position. The base salary offered will vary based on location, experience, skills, and knowledge.
