Job summary
Our client is seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join the rehabilitation team. The OT will assess, plan, and implement therapeutic interventions. These interventions help patients regain function, achieve independence in daily living activities, and return to meaningful life roles after illness, injury, or surgery. 
 
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Perform comprehensive evaluations of patients' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functioning to identify strengths, weaknesses, and functional limitations.</li>
<li>Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and physician prescriptions.</li>
<li>Provide therapeutic interventions using various techniques, including exercises, adaptive equipment training, and patient education.</li>
<li>Educate patients and their families on assistive devices, adaptive techniques, and home exercise programs to promote independence and safe transitions.</li>
<li>Monitor and document patient progress, reassessing as needed, and adjusting treatment plans accordingly.</li>
<li>Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and other professionals, to coordinate care and enhance patient outcomes.</li>
<li>Participate in team meetings, peer reviews, and case conferences to ensure effective communication and a coordinated approach to care.</li>
<li>Ensure accurate and timely documentation reflecting services provided and complying with organizational and regulatory standards.</li>
<li>Maintain competency in administering treatment to diverse patient populations, adjusting techniques and interventions to meet age-specific and condition-specific needs.</li>
<li>Supervise and provide clinical guidance to Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and rehab technicians in skilled tasks and treatment sessions.</li>
<li>Adhere to all state and federal regulations regarding occupational therapy practice and maintain a valid state license.</li>
<li>Understand various relevant payment models related to billing and treatment guidelines.</li>
<li>Be compliant with infection control procedures and environmental safety protocols within the facility.</li>

Education and experience
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.</li>
<li>Master’s degree in occupational therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program, or a doctoral degree.</li>
</ul>

Administers standard formal evaluations as appropriate based on factors such as patient age, diagnosis, and clinical information from chart review and/or patient/family interview. Able to evaluate patient deficits without formal measures when patient is unable to participate with formal testing.
 
Completes documentation in a timely manner, with clear indications of progress towards functional goals.
 
Plans individual treatment program following physician’s orders.
 
Performs therapy treatment procedures as indicated and safely.
 
Provides instruction to team regarding patients functional needs as needed.
 
Contacts physician for changes in treatment plan and program.
 
Trains patient and/or patient’s family/caregiver regarding patients care need during functional daily activities.
 
Secures equipment for patients use in all settings, and makes necessary fitting adjustments.
 
Completes daily charges.
 
Supervises aides and assistants in completion of assigned tasks.
 
Participates in continuing education to remain current in new treatment procedures, active in providing in-services to department staff.
 
Meets/exceeds productivity requirement.
 
Assists with orientation of new therapists and assistants to department policies, procedures, and physical plant.
 
Services provided are age appropriate. Therapists providing services to infants, children, and adolescents will ensure that treatment includes modalities and equipment appropriate to the developmental level of the patient.
