Job Summary
The Librarys circulation and information desks serve as a key public face for the Albany County Public Library making sure that members of the community are able to find, access, and use the materials available from the library. Under the direction of the Youth Services Librarian, the Library Assistant - Youth will help with all desk activities at the highest level of customer service. This includes checking materials in and out, performing basic technology troubleshooting and assistance, and assisting customers use the library and its services. The Library Assistant - Youth Services also supports the work of the Youth Services Department as programming support.

The Assistant Director also acts as Director of Youth Services, and is responsible for outreach, programming, budgeting, collection development and the planning and
implementation of services to children and the families of children. The employee also assists the Director in performing professional and administrative work including, but not limited to, scheduling, payroll and the payment of invoices; and helps to manage all activities and services of the Library. The Assistant Director assumes responsibility for the library in the absence of the Library Director.

This role works cross functionally with the Contract Executive, the Finance Manager, and the Lines of Business leads, and the Vendor Equivalents to assure that the contract is being correctly executed. This includes balancing the Vendor’s behaviors to help ensure the delivery of services as defined in the contract.&nbsp; When the engagement is large or involves many contracts, the Contract Manager may supervise one or more Contract Administrators (or other support staff including document librarian, financial support).

The Lead Contract Manager must have a deep grasp of the contract structure and terms and the relationship of the services to the business operations they support.&nbsp;&nbsp; Importantly, this includes an understanding of the contractual subtleties and leverage points that help ensure the realization of the business case value.&nbsp;&nbsp; This calls for a closer working relationship between the organization supported by the vendor contract and business operations team than is provided by Central Sourcing, legal or other sourcing related functions.

The Contract Manger is accountable for managing all aspects of the Firm’s contractual agreement(s) with the Vendor on behalf of the Firm and the business units of the Firm. Ability to provide courteous public service and to present clear explanations of established policies and procedures.

Skill in performing routine and non-routine procedures involving many steps. Ability to follow complex written and/or verbal instructions and to pay close attention to detail. Ability to work with limited direct supervision.
 
Ability to interact effectively with the Library’s automated system. Minimum skill level: accurate keyboarding at a minimum of 25 words per minute; ability to acquire and demonstrate knowledge of all parts of the circulation and audiovisual departments. 
 
Capacity to be easily understood on voice telephone. Minimum skill level: Demonstrated knowledge of proper telephone etiquette; ability to accurately take messages and identify appropriate destinations. 
 
Skill at accurately and efficiently sorting and shelving materials in alphanumeric order. 
 
Minimum skill level: ability to accurately shelve at a consistent rate of at least 100 items per hour; shelf read at 500 items per hour. Physical capacity to place materials on shelves at all shelving heights.
 
Ability to work in a team setting. Willingness to assist and support coworkers, contribute ideas, maintain flexibility, and be able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Education, Certification, Experience, and Training
Must qualify for Librarian Certificate 6 (LC6) - High school diploma or GED with 5 years of library experience or 9 semester hours of required library science courses. Maintains current certification; completes a minimum of 50 Library Educational Units every 5 years, consistent with Indiana State Library regulations.

Primary Purpose:
The Library Media Specialist will promote the success of all students by providing a balance between print and technology while ensuring continuous access to digital resources. The Library Media Specialist will provide leadership and expertise in the selection, acquisition, evaluation and organization of information resources and technologies in all formats, as well as expertise in the ethical use of information. The Library Media Specialist will supervise and manage the school library/media center and provide services and resources that allow students to develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and using information to solve problems. The Library Media Specialist will serve as an instructional technology specialist to ensure the library/media center is involved in instructional programs of the campus and will assist campus principals and teachers in integration and use of instructional technology.
 
Qualifications: Education/Certification

<li>Bachelor’s Degree (REQUIRED)</li>
<li>Master’s degree from accredited college or university preferred</li>
<li>Valid Texas school librarian certificate or endorsement preferred</li>

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Serve as primary instructional technology liaison for the campus.
2. Encourage the use of instructional technology and media to engage students and to improve learning, providing access to digital information resources for the entire learning community.
3. Promote cooperative planning and direct instruction to integrate curriculum with resource use and information on literacy and digital skills.
4. Maintaining frequent and timely communication to stakeholders through the school and library website, parent newsletter, e-mail, social media, and/or other formats.
5. Collaborate with teachers and others to support curriculum content, learning outcomes, student information needs, and information resources
6. Understand and model principles of intellectual freedom, information access, privacy and proprietary rights.
7. Perform library management operations including but not limited to developing, budgeting, purchasing, scheduling, managing and maintaining facilities and resources, reporting, grant writing, and overseeing circulation and inventory.
8. Implement the district standard of library procedures for classifying, cataloging, and processing various resources that facilitate computerization and resource sharing.
9. Align the school library/media center program to school, state and national program standards as described by ALA and ISTE.
10. Assist in the management of teacher &amp; student logins for district provided software.
