We're looking for experienced and credentialed inpatient coders to become an integral part of our team. The ideal candidate for this role possesses high attention to detail and a depth of knowledge in medical terminology. What You Will Do:

<li>Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS codes</li>
<li>Accurately sequence and abstract medical codes from patient records, ensuring precision and adherence to documentation</li>
<li>Oversee and audit the work of Level 1 &amp; 2 Coders, where applicable</li>
<li>Champion documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues, facilitating resolution with relevant stakeholders</li>
<li>Uphold an overall 95% coding accuracy rate and a 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignments</li>
<li>Maintain a minimum production of 1 chart per hour or site-specific productivity benchmarks</li>
<li>Foster professional communication with colleagues, management, and hospital staff, while addressing clinical and reimbursement issues</li>
<li>Occasionally travel for professional development or meetings, if required</li>
</ul>
What You Need to Succeed: 
<ul>
<li>A minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding facility experience</li>
<li>CCS, RHIT, or RHIA preferred</li>
<li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li>
</ul>

Pay ranges for this job title may differ based on location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other requirements of the role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Including, but not limited to:

The Outpatient Coder works to review patient medical records for outpatient procedures and translate the information into standardized alphanumeric codes. These codes are then used for billing, data collection, and insurance reimbursement. An outpatient coder must have strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and various coding systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
