Busy neurology and sleep medicine practice is seeking a full-time or part-time medical biller/collector to assist the billing department with No Fault claims follow-up and appeals, arbitration preparation, and patient statements and collections. Job Duties

<li>Confirm receipt of electronic and paper No Fault claims</li>
<li>Review and respond to all No Fault EOBs, denials, and rejected claims</li>
<li>Appeal any unpaid or underpaid No Fault claims</li>
<li>Prepare and mail patient statements monthly; review patient accounts to ensure balances are current</li>
<li>Submit documentation for patient collections and No Fault arbitrations</li>
<li>Call patients and/or insurance carriers when additional insurance information is needed, answer incoming calls and help office staff with questions related to No Fault and patient accounts</li>

JOB BRIEF
We are seeking an experienced medical coding professional, with vascular coding experience, to provide our doctors and scribes the best coding and charting guidance. Must be experienced with 2022 CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes. Must also be experienced with CCI edits, DRG, and correct use of modifiers. Must have 2+ years of surgical coding minimum. Must have a thorough knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology, as well as an analytical mind. As you consult, advise, interpret, and code patients' medical records, transcriptions, test results, and other documentation, we will rely on you to ask questions, connect the dots, and uncover information that may be difficult to find-all with the ultimate goal of ensuring a smooth billing process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

<li> Research proper coding options for medical procedures (Scope: lower extremities, both office and surgical)</li>
<li> Attend conferences, symposiums, or other opportunities to learn new codes and coding rules</li>
<li> Prepare summaries and assign the appropriate codes or code sets that apply</li>
<li> Assist in preparing medical record documentation/charts for doctors, scribes, surgery schedulers, and other clinicians</li>
<li> With the doctor or other clinician during the patient visit, capture and transcribe medical record documentation</li>
<li> Assign diagnosis and procedure codes for clinic visits and surgical procedures/ deliveries</li>
<li> Assist other team members with inquiries regarding coding, documentation, denials and billing</li>
<li> Follow all written policies, procedures, and protocols of the clinic, hospitals, surgery centers, etc.</li>
<li> Adhere to all policies regarding safety, confidentiality and HIPPA guidelines</li>
<li> Work fluidly in our EHR systems (EPIC) and eClinical Works (eCW) to ensure info is accurate and complete</li>
<li> Ensure that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per government and insurance regulations</li>
<li> Review patients' charts and documents for verification and accuracy</li>
<li> Follow up and clarify any information that is not clear to other staff members</li>
<li> Participate in various projects and/or meetings, and complete other tasks as assigned by management</li>

KNOWLEDGE and Experience:
<ul>
<li> Minimum 3-5 years of experience in medical coding</li>
<li> Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical coding</li>
<li> Certification as a CPC for medical practices a big plus, but not required</li>
<li> Knowledge of legal, regulatory and policy compliance issues regarding medical coding/billing and documentation</li>
<li> High school diploma required; Associate college degree preferred</li>

Qualifications
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Must have 2-3 years experience in medical billing/coding
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Medical billing certification from an accredited school, Certified Billing &amp; Coding Specialist (CBCS) exam,&nbsp;the&nbsp;Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam,&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Proficiency with computers and medical billing software
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Proficient with EMR/Practice management platforms.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Knowledge of unfair debt collection practices and insurance guidelines
