The Managing Director, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra oversees the professional resident orchestra with (74) musicians and fellowship program performing (20+) concerts during the Institution’s summer assembly season, including direct responsibility for operating resources, scheduling and production, negotiating and fulfilling contracts with musicians, venues, and vendors, and managing the details of the orchestra’s recording, electronic media, and outreach projects. About Your Work Schedule &amp; Location

Primary Purpose:
The Library Media Specialist will promote the success of all students by providing a balance between print and technology while ensuring continuous access to digital resources. <li>Communicate proactively and attentively with program supervisors and branch colleagues to support time sensitive travel assignments</li>
<li>Implement NYPL After School’s daily homework help service at various Bronx program locations on weekdays (Monday-Thursday) between the hours of 2:00-7:00 PM</li>
<li>Work both independently and with colleagues and co-tutors to welcome and engage children ages 6-12 on a walk-in basis during the busy after school hours in the library</li>
<li>Work with students individually and in groups to deliver scalable academic support and promote learning across subject areas including math, reading, social studies, and science across elementary grade levels</li>
<li>Share program information and expectations with parents/caregivers and refer patrons to branch staff for additional resources and assistance</li>
<li>Manage and share in branch-based administrative tasks including tracking attendance and statistics, and organization and distribution of program supplies</li>
<li>Communicate proactively with branch and central staff to provide feedback and highlight challenges and successes&nbsp;</li>
<li>Design and implement engaging enrichment activities for children that inspire a love of reading and learning</li>
<li>Provide supportive guidance and model best practices for youth employees from the Teen Reading Ambassadors program, who work alongside Tutors at most locations to provide additional support for program activities</li>
<li>Work alongside the Children’s Librarian and other branch staff to provide assistance for programs in the library</li>
<li>Attend periodic meetings and trainings to facilitate information exchange among program staff and promote professional development</li>

 Required Education, Experience &amp; SkillsRequired Education &amp; Certifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree OR</li>
<li>Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program, with at least two or more years completed at an approved accredited educational institution</li>
</ul>
Required Experience
<ul>
<li>Prior experience working in a formal or informal education setting with children and/or teens</li>
<li>Experience teaching and/or tutoring across elementary subject areas (math, science, reading, ELA, social studies, etc.) </li>
</ul>
Required Skills
<ul>
<li>Ability to engage and communicate effectively with children ages 6-12, as well as parents and caregivers, co-workers, and supervisors</li>
<li>Ability to multitask and work flexibly in a busy public library environment</li>
<li>Strong understanding of basic elementary math, science, ELA, and social studies concepts</li>
<li>Ability to independently navigate basic computer and technology applications, including regular use of Google Applications and Microsoft Office Suite</li>

<li>Employment term will begin with required orientation workshops during the weeks of September 15 and September 22 and continue for the program year which runs September 29, 2025 - June 18, 2026. Tutors are not scheduled to work during NYC Schools holidays and closures, including summer.</li>
