Education

The purpose of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography (“DMS”) Faculty is to provide high-quality instruction and guidance to students in the general ultrasound discipline. Smith Chason College faculty members play a vital role in fostering an engaging learning environment and facilitating student success. A DMS faculty member will deliver effective instruction that aligns with the approved syllabi, guidelines, and program standards, while collaborating with fellow department team members. Additionally, a DMS faculty member is expected to model professionalism in dress, action, and communication. Overall, will empower students to achieve their academic goals and prepare them for a future in the medical workforce. 
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES:

<li> Sonographer with specialization/interest in Ultrasound Physics </li>
<li>Must have a minimum of four years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught and possess a related degree at least at the same level as the course the faculty member is teaching </li>
<li>Maintain current certification(s) with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography license and all continuing education requirements set by Smith Chason College in the fields being taught and provide school copies of all the above on a yearly basis. </li>
<li>Maintain an active CPR/BLS certification </li>
<li>Possess a sound knowledge and understanding of the professional career paths and demands of employers in the field(s) in which they teach</li>
<li>Must have strong technical skills including all computer applications, internet research, database management, and analytical skills</li>
<li>Experienced with Canvas or related LMS usage for instruction (assignments, quizzes, discussion boards, gradebook, modules) is preferred</li>

Program Director - Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Description:
 
South College invites applications for the position of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program Director at the South College Atlanta Campus. The Program Director reports to the Dean of Academic and Student Services, and in conjunction with the Clinical Coordinator, is responsible for integrating all clinical education with didactic education.
 
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Oversees the structure and daily operation of the program, including organizations, administration, periodic review, and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness of program curricula.</li>
<li>Ensure the effectiveness of all clinical affiliates/clinical education centers is maintained.</li>
<li>Coordinate, evaluate, and supervise the program’s clinical component.</li>
<li>Act as a liaison between the clinical agencies and the college maintaining open lines of communication with the Clinical Coordinator.</li>

Wellstar Cobb in Austell, Georgia is seeking a FT Night Registered Sonographer. &nbsp;This position will receive the sonography specialty differential. &nbsp;This position will also receive evening, night and weekend shift differential. &nbsp;The Registered Sonographer must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department per department protocols. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Quality Control * Consistently produces acceptable images, as evidenced by provider feedback and quality audits * Ensures that equipment is fully operational prior to each use, by checking for proper calibration and operating deficiencies. * Sends all studies to PACS immediately after completion, prints CDs as needed. * Studies that have been reported after hours by teleradiography are printed and scanned into PACS, if applicable. * Completes all studies in RIS before completing in PACS. * Prints completed log sheet from teleradiography and submits to Radiologist, if applicable * Performs and maintains quality control logs for probe disinfection and follows infection control policies Operations * Restocks linens and supplies, and maintains the department in clean and orderly condition. * Transports patients, positions patients, and helps them on and off procedure table. * Performs patient charging activities on the day the service is rendered. * Applies supportive and immobilization devices and equipment.
