The paramedic/Firefighter should be able to operate and maintain ambulance and equipment and maintain skill sets, and certifications as required. Paramedic/Firefighters must protect the Summit Point Training Facility property which includes high speed racetracks, buildings, wooded areas, explosive ranges and other structures and areas. The position participates in fire suppression, vehicle extrication/stabilization, and standby for the explosives range.

<li>Knowledge of the Altoona city limits and Altoona jurisdiction.</li>

WORKING CONDITIONS:

REQUIRED SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

<li>Valid Iowa Drivers license</li>
<li>Establish residency within forty-five (45) miles, which takes forty-five (45) minutes or less to drive to the facility within the first six (6) months of employment with the city.</li>
<li>Certification as Firefighter I (Firefighter II preferred), Paramedic (PM), and Haz-Mat Operations, NIMS/ICS: IS-100a, IS-200a, IS-700</li>
<li>All licenses and certifications listed must be valid and be maintained throughout employment.</li>
<li>Must be insurable.</li>
