Beacon Hill Legal is partnering with a highly reputable law firm in Kansas City, MO, to recruit an experienced Trusts &amp; Estates Paralegal. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected team and contribute to a full range of estate planning and administration matters. 
Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>
Assist attorneys and senior paralegals with estate administration, trust funding, and preparation of legal documents.
</li>
<li>
Prepare and assist with Gift Tax Returns, Estate Tax Returns, and Fiduciary Income Tax Returns.
</li>
<li>
Manage trust financial records, perform trust accounting, reconcile broker statements, and handle payables and bank deposits.
</li>
<li>
Obtain, review, and reconcile 1099s and K-1s.
</li>
<li>
Support revocable and irrevocable trust funding and administration (pre- and post-death).
</li>
<li>
Handle probate administration, including drafting probate pleadings.
</li>
<li>
Maintain ongoing communication with clients, financial advisors, and other professionals.
</li>
<li>
Manage client case files and electronic databases efficiently.
</li>
<li>
Provide high-quality client service while meeting the annual billable requirement of 1,500 hours.
</li>
<li>
Supervise records management tasks when necessary.
</li>
<li>
Ensure compliance with firm policies and maintain professionalism in all interactions. 
</li>
</ul>
Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>
5+ years of Trusts &amp; Estates paralegal experience strongly preferred.
</li>
<li>
Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred (substantive experience may substitute for education).
</li>
<li>
Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
</li>
<li>
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
</li>
<li>
Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with tax and trust accounting software (e.g., GEMS, BNA, ProSystems, EVP) is a plus.
</li>
<li>
Prior exposure to corporate or real estate matters beneficial.
</li>
<li>
Proven case management experience and attention to detail.
</li>
<li>
Ability to work independently while also collaborating within a team environment. 
</li>

Job Details

<li>Seeking a senior associate or partner with financial services litigation experience (comp up to 250K dependent upon experience but only that high for someone with a lot of experience). </li>
<li>Someone who can independently handle (and hopefully grow) a book of business, including formulating case litigation strategies, communicating them with the client (and carrier where applicable), overseeing and developing associates, and overseeing the billing functions surrounding those matters. </li>
</ul>
 Comp: Associates are 1900 billable hours and get $15K upon hitting the minimum. Billable hours above 1900 are paid out at $50/hour and above 2000 hours are paid out at $75/hour. This doesn’t apply to senior counsel or partners. Partners are usually 1800 billable hours but it depends on the agreement. Bonuses might be built in quarterly based on hours.
