 ABOUT THE ROLE: The Medical Coder III position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate medical coding and documentation. This involves handling complex case scenarios, applying a combination of facility coding and professional coding, and aligning with industry standards like ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes. The coders will facilitate proper documentation and communication with medical staff to enhance compliance and coding accuracy.
 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Accurately assign various medical codes and modifiers for inpatient discharges and surgical procedures. •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Review and resolve inconsistencies in medical documentation. •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Educate and provide feedback to providers and clinical staff regarding documentation support. •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Collaborate with medical coding auditors and provide coding guidance to staff. •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Utilize Military Health System (MHS) to access and code patient records supporting other facilities. •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Maintain Defense Health Agency (DHA) coding productivity and accuracy standards.
 QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Professional coding certification such as CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS-P. •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Institutional coding certification: CIC, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS. •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;E&amp;M coding certification: CEMC or CEMA. •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;General skills in medical ethics, communication, and customer service.
 EDUCATION: •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Post-high school education with an Associate’s degree or higher, or equivalent in a relevant field such as Health Information Management. &nbsp;
SCHEDULE:&nbsp; Monday through Friday for an eight-hour shift between the hours of 0630 and 1630, including a 30-minute meal break. The first 30 days on-site, with potential teleworking up to four times a week upon approval.&nbsp;

MNA delivers leadership, support, and guidance to healthcare facilities of all sizes across multiple specialties with the primary goal of providing accessibility, value, and quality medical administrative support services.
 
What Youll Do: 
As a certified coding professional for our organization, you must be able to prepare and submit medical claims for further processing throughout EMR to the clearinghouse. The individual must know current payer rules and regulations, basic payer edits, and CCI edits. Coding professionals will have the decision-making skills to resolve claim denials and work alongside the team to maintain timeliness, accuracy, compliance, and standards. Coding staff work on claim denials and aging claims with payers to achieve standard coding benchmarks.

<li>Create and scrub medical claims through EMR software, reviewing for accuracy and coding to the highest specificity.</li>
<li>Review claims to ensure coding edits are applied and follow current payer policies.</li>
<li>Ensure denials or rejections are reviewed in a timely manner and pushed back out to the payer for appeal processing timelines.</li>
<li>Accurately enter and balance daily payment activities (credit, insurance, check, electronic funds transfer, etc.) into EMR software.</li>
<li>Reconciling and submitting to accounting daily.</li>
<li>Ensure thorough documentation of all correspondence with patients, insurance, and vendors.</li>
<li>Ensure credit balances are handled timely and accurately.</li>
<li>Research, record findings, and communicate effectively with the manager and client to achieve optimum performance.</li>
<li>Identify trends and carrier issues relating to billing and reimbursements and communicate to the manager.</li>
<li>Communicate with internal and external customers via phone calls and written communications related to patient accounts.</li>
<li>Communicate with insurance companies to determine proper reimbursement.</li>
<li>Maintain patient confidence and protect medical office operations by keeping patient information confidential.</li>

About the Company
NextStep Technology Inc. is seeking a Medical Records Analyst. The medical records analyst is primarily responsible for review of health information. The MRA reviews the medical records for specific criteria and validation of specific code year sets submitted from selected organizations to government and commercial client. The position requires review of protected health information and must maintain strict confidentiality when addressing or referring to such records. The incumbent must have the ability to use a variety of office equipment, computer software, the ability to use sound and professional judgement, and to work independently. The candidate(s) will be hired as an employee up to 40 hours per week (flexible scheduling). This is a remote position
 About the Role
The medical records analyst is primarily responsible for review of health information.
 Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Analyze protected health information according to project specific rules.</li>
<li>Participates in the Intake Process of records.</li>
<li>Assigns ICD-9/10-CM codes according to the guidelines as defined by the AMA.</li>
<li>Discusses project related discrepancies with Team Lead(s).</li>
<li>Maintain coding credentials and continuing education hourPossess and maintains a current and comprehensive understandiof coding rules, changes, and guidelines as defined by the AMA.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Must possess a minimum of one (1-3) years of experience in abstracting and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding of general acute hospital (inpatient and outpatient) and physician medical records by applying ICD-9/ICD-10 Coding Guidelines for inpatient and outpatient settings and related Official Coding Clinics.</li>
<li>ICD9 proficiency required.</li>
<li>Knowledge in anatomy and physiology, pathology of disease and medical terminology required.</li>
<li>Ability to write appropriate correspondence and effectively communicate with other members of NS personnel, clients, and customers as necessary.</li>
<li>Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision and use professional judgment as detailed in the AHIMA Code of Ethics.</li>
<li>Passing score on a administered coder assessment must be achieved before further consideration.</li>
</ul>
Required
<ul>
<li>Skills Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist).</li>
