Detailed responsibilities: * INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT - Using independent judgment assign nursing personnel and staff to specific patients * MISCELLANEOUS - Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned * DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature and attending in-services, meetings and workshops * RESOURCE - Act as a clinical resource and role model for department personnel * EVALUATION - Administers or makes recommendations regarding performance evaluations, promotions, administration of personnel policies with staff, hiring or discipline * POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance programs * STRATEGIC INITIATIVES - Active participation in nursing strategic initiatives such as quality improvement and monitoring, TJC compliance, recruitment and retention of staff and patient and employee satisfaction * DELEGATE - Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers * DUTIES -As needed, RN may be required to provide direct nursing care to assigned patients * ADPIE - Ensure ability to assess, initiate and document nursing assessment, plan of care, interventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status * TIME MANAGEMENT - Ensure ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and/or paper documentation tools in a timely and accurate manner * SHIFT ASSIGNMENTS - Designate shift and schedule assignments call in staff, send staff home and monitor attendance; assign duties in accordance with the plan of care, patient needs, and within the scope of staff qualifications and licensure/certification/registry and monitor completion of duties according to departmental and hospital policies * PATIENT SAFETY - Report potential and actual patient safety, concerns, medical errors and or near misses in a timely manner thru the chain of command and document within the PSN system * PATIENT CARE - Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional psychological and spiritual support to patient, friends and families * PATIENT CARE - Promote patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, identified ley caregiver and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions * TEAMWORK - Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams and resolve patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies * PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols * PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes * PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk * PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner * PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Experience: Essential: Nonessential: Bilingual2 years directly related experience 
Credentials: Essential: * Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification w/in 6 months * Basic Arrhythmia Cert w/in 1 year * RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM * CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days Nonessential: * Certified in area of specialty 
Physical Conditions: Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
