About the Role
Fitness Instructors at Bouldering Project lead dynamic, safe, and inclusive group fitness classes that align with our brand values and class offerings. What You’ll Do
Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

<li>Help tp open a brand new gym and build up a whole new community!</li>
<li>Design and lead 30–60 minute group fitness classes that reflect Bouldering Project offerings (e.g., Strength, Core, TRX and Barre Fusion)</li>
<li>Demonstrate and coach proper movement techniques, offering modifications and progressions for a range of fitness levels and abilities</li>
<li>Welcome participants, build rapport, and foster a fun, inclusive, and community-centered experience</li>
<li>Maintain a professional appearance and conduct classes in alignment with industry safety standards</li>
<li>Arrive early, prepared, and ensure classes start and end on time</li>
<li>Maintain cleanliness and organization in studio and fitness areas</li>
<li>Respond to injuries and emergencies following established safety protocols</li>
<li>Coordinate class coverage when unavailable and assist with subbing for other instructors as needed</li>
<li>Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required</li>
<li>Ensure accurate headcount and class tracking</li>

Requirements:
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications

<li>Current certification in Group Fitness or Personal Training from a nationally accredited body (e.g., ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, ISSA, AFAA)</li>
<li>CPR/AED certification and basic first aid training</li>
<li>Minimum 1+ year of experience teaching group fitness classes</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to participant needs</li>

<li>Prepares music and other curriculum materials for class. Chooses music at appropriate beats per minute for class segments.</li>

<li>Responsible for finding a dependable, appropriate substitute upon their absence. If a substitute is not available, alert the Fitness and Enrichment Coordinator immediately so the class can be canceled and registrants notified.</li>
<li>All staff meetings and training courses. When requested, attends special events to promote the fitness programs.</li>
<li>Checks class rosters and accurately records participant attendance.</li>
<li>Completes any necessary reports and forms, i.e., Accident Reports, Health Forms, Attendance Records, Supply Requests, etc.</li>
<li>Must be responsible and punctual.</li>
<li>May be required to set-up and break-down materials and equipment used for instruction.</li>
<li>Performs first aid as required, depending on training and certification. </li>
<li>Complies with District and department rules and regulations, policies and procedures. </li>

Desired Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Requires current ACE, AFAA, AAAI, NASM or equivalent group exercise and current CPR/AED certification. Must have or be willing to obtain Silver Sneakers Instructor Certification if needed.</li>
<li>Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.</li>
<li>At least six months’ experience in teaching fitness classes to older adults is preferred.</li>
</ul>

Necessary Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of fitness, health and wellness principles and how to apply them in teaching fitness classes. Must be aware of physical modifications for individuals of all ages/abilities. Must be able to plan, develop and implement a class curriculum as established by certification. 
Works in an indoor (and occasional outdoor) setting where incumbent may be subject to noise and distraction; requires extended periods of speaking in a loud voice for up to an hour at a time; requires public relations skills in handling concerns and complaints; entails working closely with others and working with little supervision; and requires excellent organizational/time management skills. 
Must be personable; innovative and creative; flexible and versatile; team-oriented; adaptable to fast-paced, changing environments; have strong human relations and communication skills; and be customer service oriented. Administers first aid and CPR in the event of an accident. 

Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of the Fitness and Enrichment Coordinator.

Supervises programs they are scheduled to instruct.
 
Tools and Equipment Used
Equipment for projecting vocal instructions and music, and program equipment including weights, chairs, bands, etc.

Work Schedule
Based on programming on Tuesday/Thursday evenings (4:30-7pm) and Saturday mornings (8:30am-12pm).
 
Physical Demands
Requires muscular exertion and/or physical strain and frequent concentration on an activity where the flow of work is intermittent; requires use of hands to fingers, ability to reach, climb, bend, stoop, crouch and occasionally lift objects weighing less than 20 lbs.
