About the Role
Fitness Instructors at Bouldering Project lead dynamic, safe, and inclusive group fitness classes that align with our brand values and class offerings. Instructors are engaging, professional, and community-oriented teachers who empower individuals through movement and support an environment where everyone feels welcome. This role includes preparing and leading group classes, maintaining safety and professionalism, and contributing to an uplifting fitness culture.
 
 
What You’ll Do
Job duties may include, but are not limited to:
<ul>
<li>Design and lead 30–60 minute group fitness classes that reflect Bouldering Project offerings (e.g., HIIT, Strength, Core, Mobility, Functional Fitness)</li>
<li>Demonstrate and coach proper movement techniques, offering modifications and progressions for a range of fitness levels and abilities</li>
<li>Welcome participants, build rapport, and foster a fun, inclusive, and community-centered experience</li>
<li>Maintain a professional appearance and conduct classes in alignment with industry safety standards</li>
<li>Arrive early, prepared, and ensure classes start and end on time</li>
<li>Maintain cleanliness and organization in studio and fitness areas</li>
<li>Respond to injuries and emergencies following established safety protocols</li>
<li>Coordinate class coverage when unavailable and assist with subbing for other instructors as needed</li>
<li>Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required</li>
<li>Ensure accurate headcount and class tracking</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned</li>

Requirements:
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Current certification in Group Fitness or Personal Training from a nationally accredited body (e.g., ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, ISSA, AFAA)</li>
<li>CPR/AED certification and basic first aid training</li>
<li>Minimum 1+ year of experience teaching group fitness classes</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to participant needs</li>
<li>Passion for movement, fitness, and community building</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>2+ years of group fitness instruction</li>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field</li>
<li>CSCS certification</li>
<li>Experience in functional fitness, mobility, or strength-based formats</li>
<li>Personal training experience</li>

Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Current personal/group training certification; spin and yoga certifications are a plus</li>
<li>Willingness to learn. Candidates must be able to adapt to our exciting new fitness philosophy</li>
<li>Ability to multi-task and command a room</li>

<li>Experience and/or certifications in Personal Training and/or Group Fitness Training, Spinning, Yoga</li>
<li>Excellent customer service and sales skills</li>
<li>Must complete in-house instructor training and pass audition to be considered for employment</li>

Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Complete SPENGA Certification in spin, strength, and yoga</li>
<li>Teach classes consisting of spin, strength, and yoga components</li>
<li>Create and lead workouts according to the SPENGA model</li>
<li>Safely engage and motivate groups of 20 people through a fast-paced workout</li>
<li>Modify exercises on demand to cater to a range of fitness levels</li>
<li>Retain and increase client participation</li>
<li>Set up and reset studio equipment before and after classes</li>
<li>As SPENGA ambassadors, instructors will promote, sell, and add to the SPENGA culture in and out of the studio</li>
</ul>
