Marion County Health &amp; Human Services is looking for an excellent Mental Health Associate to join our Diversion Team.  Mental Health Associates provide mental health services to individuals with a variety of mental health challenges and/or substance use disorders.  The person chosen for this position will gain valuable experience by supporting our clientele and actively engaging them in treatment related activities which promote community integration and a recovery model approach (e.g., cooking, budgeting, shopping, cleaning, nutrition, medications, social skills, communication).  Transport clients as needed - ODL is required.  This is a full time, 40 hour/week position, which is eligible for overtime. Schedule is Wednesday-Saturday noon to 11pm (4 ten-hour days).
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES  Provides individual and group recreational, social and skills training services under a professionally developed service plan; keeps records of persons served status; performs service plan directed case management functions under close supervision; performs related duties as required.  Primary responsibility of this class is to assist and support other mental health professionals, without primary responsibility for a caseload.   SUPERVISION RECEIVED  Works under close supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.   SUPERVISION EXERCISED  Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following

<li>Assist clients of the Psychiatric Crisis Center to follow the crisis treatment plan created by the Qualified Mental Health Professional. Provide one-on-one skills training to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, as needed per QMHP. This includes teaching relaxation techniques, crisis intervention skills, assisting clients with phone calls, or other skills the QMHP deems appropriate in the community setting.</li>
<li>Drive clients to appointments for emergency meds, food boxes, or to locations as directed by the QMHP.  Perform daily check-ins with the clients located at Lotus House and run weekly skills training groups.</li>
<li>Provide daily check-ins with clients in the respite apartments or the respite home providers each day the client is in respite.</li>
<li>Clean respite apartments, as needed, as well as respite vehicles.</li>
<li>Take laundry to the cleaners, as needed, and disperse as necessary once returned clean.</li>
<li>Provide Crisis Associates duties as necessary in 4 other Mid Valley Behavioral Care Network counties, per contracts.</li>
<li>Provide transport and initial support to clients placed in the Bridgeway hospital diversion/detox bed.</li>
<li>Provide back up to PCC staff in answering the phones and greeting clients (beginning paperwork).</li>
<li>Monitor lobby as needed.</li>
<li>Perform other job duties as assigned by your supervisor.</li>

Peer Support Specialist - Adult Mental Health

Primary responsibility of this class is to provide crisis intervention, case management, and treatment services, including intensive services, to individuals and their families and/or to develop and implement specific services in the community. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Primary supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification.  Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following

<li>Provides mental health and suicide risk/crisis assessments to youth in schools, at Youth and Family Crisis Services (YFCS) and at other community locations, which may include client’s homes.  Interfaces with school counselors and Family Support Advocates.</li>
<li>Provides crisis intervention and stabilization, and establishes crisis plans for adults, children and families in the community when requested by law enforcement. Participates in threat assessments.</li>
<li>When available provides backup/fill-in to the YFCS staff/office, including answering phones, mental health evaluations, and staff coverage.</li>
<li>Provides crisis stabilization and follow-up services to selected youth and their families.  Links/refers youth and families to appropriate school and community services.</li>
<li>As available, attends YST and other school-based meetings to consult about students at-risk.</li>
<li>Provides consultation to schools and other agencies.</li>
<li>Documents services, meeting BCN/OHP standards as well as Health Department policies and expectations.</li>

The Marion County Crisis Center provides 24hr, 7days a week walk-in mental health services to the greater Salem area and all of Marion County. This work is done at two different locations each day (at the Salem Hospital Emergency Dept. and at PCC), so driving is required. Assessment of Mental Status: Perform independent assessment of mental status, diagnosis, level of functioning, dangerousness, and specific needs for service.  Screen individual for psychiatric hospitalization. Planning Development: Develop plan with client/family to address immediate needs and plans to obtain services.   If client is unwilling to seek services, make decisions regarding involuntary commitment based on dangerousness and ability to care for self. Community Coordination: Maintain current knowledge of, and contact with, community agencies in order to make referrals appropriately.  See that clients gain access to the services they need, and do follow-up work as needed, to make certain that client’s needs are being met.  Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following
This position provides services to monolingual Spanish-speaking individuals; therefore, fluent bilingual Spanish/English skills are required. 
Counseling to Crisis Clients:  Provide counseling by telephone or in-person to individuals and/or their families or concerned others.  Intervene with both children and adults.  Presenting problems covering the full range of personal needs and include thoughts/plans or violence toward others, and major psychiatric illness.  Because of the wide spectrum of presenting problems, it is necessary to have a comprehensive knowledge of psychopathology and to be able to draw upon a wide range of therapeutic strategies in counseling. This work is done at two different locations each day (at the Salem Hospital Emergency Dept. and at PCC), so driving is required. Assessment of Mental Status:  Perform independent assessment of mental status, diagnosis, level of functioning, dangerousness, and specific needs for service.  Screen individual for psychiatric hospitalization. Planning Development:  Develop plan with client/family to address immediate needs and plans to obtain services.   If client is unwilling to seek services, make decisions regarding involuntary commitment based on dangerousness and ability to care for self. Community Coordination:  Maintain current knowledge of, and contact with, community agencies in order to make referrals appropriately.  See that clients gain access to the services they need, and do follow-up work as needed, to make certain that client’s needs are being met.
Other job duties as assigned by your supervisor.   Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Mental Health Specialist 1 Minimum Qualifications:

We are looking for experienced Clinicians to work with the Aid &amp; Assist program. These positions work closely with the District Attorney's Office, Marion County Correctional Facility, Oregon State Hospital and the 370 Docket to monitor Marion County residents who find themselves with charges but may be unable to aid and assist in their own defense.  These positions are part of the Marion County Health &amp; Human Services Criminal Justice Diversion program and take part in a collaborative team environment that includes members of law enforcement, the courts and the 24/7 crisis center. Flexibility between a 5 day/8-hour day and a 4 day/ 10-hour schedule is negotiable depending on program needs.

 Maintain contact with Oregon State Hospital (OSH) Liaison to assist with discharge planning and developing community linkages for persons deemed unfit to proceed and receiving treatment at OSH.  Develop treatment alternatives to OSH for this caseload.  Evaluate appropriateness for community diversion and conduct risks assessments as necessary.  Provide education and training to enable individuals to reach standard for fit to proceed.  Collaborate with OSH liaison to establish financial resources and entitlements for discharge to the community and to assure completion of referral information for community placement.   Develop diversion plans with provider community. Develop and maintain relationships with community treatment providers.  Work collaboratively within MCHHS and county residential system to develop placements.  Interface with jail and hospital staff in those facilities.  Monitor resources to assure they are developed and maintained in the community for the success of the client. May transport clients to appointments as needed. Arrange intake appointment at community provider.  
Provide BRES intake assessments and coordinate case management needs with the BRES QMHP and Diversion QMHA.
