BASIC PURPOSE &amp; SCOPE:

 Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, is responsible for, but not limited to, 
 oversight of the medical component of Hospice inclusive of supervision of the IDT physicians
 as well as patient care, consultation with primary care physicians and interdisciplinary team 
 members, consultation in the development of applicable policy and procedures, liaison 
 activities in relation to the medical and lay communities to promote hospice care, and 
 participation as an interdisciplinary team member regarding medical consultation on home 
 care patients designated for team review.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>Participates in initial assessments of patients and verification of appropriateness of hospice </li>
</ol>
care.

<li>Verifies/certifies the six-month terminal prognosis in conjunction with the attending </li>

physician and recertifies limited life expectancy at subsequent periods for hospice care eligibility as may be necessary with face-to-face visits.

<li>Establishes expected/desired role of medical director in relation to the primary care </li>
</ol>
physician for each hospice patient, inclusive of the relinquishment of the medical director responsibilities to the IDT physician for all patients who present for admission to hospice from his or her own private practice.

<li>Participates in developing and revising written patient care objectives and procedures.</li>
<li>Consults with attending physicians as necessary regarding pain and symptom management and is responsible for meeting the medical needs of patients if the attending physician in unavailable or unresponsive.</li>

6. Serves as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
7. As supervisor of IDT physicians, resolves conflicting patient care decisions when needed.
8. Serves on-call, as may be necessary to the hospice program.

<li>Monitors the effectiveness of policies and procedures in the care of terminally ill patients and their families via active participation in Interdisciplinary team weekly, recommending changes in policy or procedure as deemed appropriate to the QI Manager or Chief Nursing Officer for inclusion in the appropriate QI forum.</li>
<li>Acts to assure continuity of care should withdrawal from program occur.</li>
<li>Assumes responsibility for educational/promotional activities involving physicians, hospice staff, and the community.</li>

<li>Serves on agency committees as may be assigned.</li>

<li>Must have knowledge of job task analysis techniques and nuclear energy topics.</li>
<li>Must be able to interpret the current regulatory orders and develop training methods to facilitate implementation. Must possess resourcefulness to determine solutions to problems identified as training related and take initiative to achieve stated objectives.</li>
<li>Must be able to work under general supervision and follow detailed written and verbal instructions to perform assigned tasks according to established procedures.</li>
<li>Must be able to use own judgment in locating and selecting most appropriate guidelines, references, and procedures.</li>
<li>Must be able to execute a broad scope of specific training practices affecting the accuracy, reliability, or acceptability of further processes. </li>
<li>Must possess well-established personal communication skills required to present information clearly and explain subjects or systems to operators, supervisors, and engineers. </li>
<li>Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be able utilize PowerPoint and be able to perform word processing at an intermediate skill level. </li>

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
<ul>
<li>Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations.</li>
<li>Adhere to standards contained in the Company “Code of Conduct,” Company EEO practices, and DOE directives.</li>
<li>Assist in the review of DOE Orders and regulating guidance in order to implement.</li>
<li>Interface with and assist the Manager in the assessment and implementation of new regulations and/or special projects.</li>
<li>Perform job task analysis to evaluate training needs.</li>
<li>Develop and coordinate preparation of:
<ul>
<li>Training plans curriculum and schedules.</li>
<li>Training manuals and job aids.</li>
<li>Lesson plans and examinations.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Conduct effective classroom and on-the-job training presentations.</li>
<li>Prepare written, walk-through, and oral board examinations. Perform evaluations and grade exams.</li>
<li>Coordinate continuing training programs for project personnel.</li>
<li>Observe employee job tasks and/or evolutions to evaluate training effectiveness, site training deficiencies and develop corrective actions.</li>
<li>Develop criteria to determine effectiveness of training activities. Update, as required, and administer various qualification programs.</li>
<li>Update various computer applications to track variety of databases and perform related analysis.</li>
<li>Regular attendance is required.</li>
<li>Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.</li>
