Position Overview

Requirements:
 
• Have a security clearance - SECRET 
 
• Be a graduate of an accredited Engineering college curriculum (four [4]-year degree minimum AND have a minimum of six (6) years of Design Management and/or Design experience performing tasks identified herein. 
 
• It is highly desirable to have their U.S. Professional Engineering Registration (P.E.) in the discipline being hired (i.e. mechanical design technical support requires a mechanical engineering license) but not required.
 
• Have demonstrated knowledge of broad-based Engineering principles and versed in the discipline being hired.
 
• Sound understanding of technical concepts, principles and practices applicable to multidisciplined engineering project design.
 
• Have demonstrated experience with the following:
 
 o Performing facilities electrical engineering design to include design calculations to size electrical services, service transformers, and secondary power distribution systems; calculations to size overcurrent devices, disconnect switches, and branch circuits and feeders; lighting calculations, lighting layouts, and specifying of light fixtures; develop drawings using AutoCAD and editing product specifications. Well versed with the National Electric Code.
 
• Have demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
 
• Have demonstrated experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and in briefing management personnel.
 
• Provide satisfactory proof of U.S. citizenship. (U.S. or naturalized).
 
• Have demonstrated experience in the use and application of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), AutoCAD and/or Revit, etc. Have the ability to adapt to new software such as eCMS, MS Teams and Zoom may also be necessary.
 
• Complete the SF-85-P, Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions. This task order shall establish necessary base/building access requirements.

Position: Industrial Engineer
Location: Etters, PA 
Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We have design, sales, and manufacturing locations globally and are currently seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our High Speed Backplane team located in Etters, PA.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
<ul>
<li>Operations Plans, Assembly Line Rationalization, Capital Expenditure, and Manpower Projections. Aid in the development of strategic plans for NPI and product modifications. Work closely with marketing to determine project forecasts and process scope. Understand relative financial formulations.</li>
<li>Cost Benefit Analysis and Alternative Design implications. Vendor vs In-House manufacturing costs. Compare in-house to quoted costs and explain probable material consumption and process differences.</li>
<li>Perform competitive analysis by reverse engineering competitor's product to produce a probable process and cost. Think abstractly and reasonably to realistically estimate unknowns.</li>
<li>Gap analysis: predicted vs actual cost and optimizing process parameters. Utility, AFOQ implications, capital payback and business case evaluation. Cost Reduction: managing current vs entitlement cost.</li>
<li>Second sourcing and Supply chain geo-diversity. To include sourcing of materials from different suppliers and manufacturing in different countries.</li>
<li>Quantify process implications of competing and variable manufacturing processes, including Stamping, Plating, Laser Welding, Adhesives, Multi-Shot Injection Molding, Manual Assembly, and custom designed Automated Assembly systems.</li>
<li>Troubleshoot Design for Manufacturability issues including manufacturing hand-off issues, capacity bottlenecks, staffing issues, line balancing, and general use equipment requirements.</li>
<li>Recommend product and process design changes to optimize product function, minimize cost, and streamline manufacturing.</li>
<li>Communicate and Coordinate Process Implications with the broader design and Marketing Members of the team as well as Management. Work in environment critical and challenging of your work at times.</li>
<li>Position will include occasional travel to domestic and foreign manufacturing sites.</li>
</ul>
QUALIFICATIONS: 
<ul>
<li>A BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Materials Engineering is desirable. Other engineering degrees and/or certifications will be given consideration.</li>
<li>At least 3 to 5 years related experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred. Background in process engineering is preferred. Other experience levels will be considered.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal skills required to interface effectively with people in a wide range of job functions globally.</li>
<li>Very strong problem solving and logical reasoning skills. Tenacity, assertiveness, and a strong inclination toward order, consistency, and detail are required. Ability to present information in a simplified and attractive but logical form to managers and supervisors is necessary.</li>
<li>Technical knowledge of Stamping, Plating, Molding, Assembly and related technologies. Knowledge of quality programs such as FMEA, SPC, Fishbone Analysis, and Pareto Charts used to drive quality and cost improvements is a plus.</li>
<li>Mastery of unit conversions and the values behind common units of mass, volume, area, time, density, and distance is essential.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to accept accountability and drive business directed activities with minimal supervision. Ability to work under pressure or when stressed is vital.</li>
<li>Strong experience with Microsoft Excel is required. Experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is required. Basic experience with 2D / 3D CAD programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or Creo is required, including ability to isolate parts in an assembly, measure part volumes, measure surface areas, and produce sections. Experience with Microsoft Project and Access or basic understanding of project scheduling and use of databases is preferred. Skills with ERP Systems are beneficial.</li>

Specific responsibilities and Authorities may include: 

• Ensure that the Quality Management System is carried out to achieve planned results. 
• Ensure the quality of finished goods when appropriate. 
• Input QA/QC information into Web QMS. 
• Inspect incoming raw materials. 
• Conduct dimensional inspection based on the purchase order or the appropriate drawings. 
• Prepare identification stencils and marking. 
• Take test samples to appropriated laboratories. 
• Shop inspections of the production and the packaging processes. 
• Monitor and record QC inspection reports. 
• Conduct and document final inspections. 
• Provide support for shipping. 
• Answer technical questions, contacting suppliers when needed. 
• Assisting the QA Level 1 with SIT/Huber’s Calibration program, ensuring that all equipment which requires calibration is entered into Web QMS and is up-to-date. 
• File quality-related paperwork, such as dimensional reports, as per ISO procedures, 
• Inspecting finished products being shipped are properly built to the required specifications. 
• Interface with Management, Operations and Purchasing on discrepant materials. 
• Move to other areas as needed (production, fill-in work, etc.) when their specific area is not available. 
• Support and participate in the organization’s continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system. 
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent secondary education. 
• Bachelor’s degree, a plus. 
• Experience as described below may be accepted in lieu of education. 

EXPERIENCE
• Three (3) to five (5 years of experience in quality assurance/quality control. 
• Experience working in an ISO 9001:2015 environment a plus.

Work Environment
Work in a Fixed Base Operator (FBO) environment located in New Century, KS. The facility is non-climate controlled and operates on a 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch break. The team consists of 12 mechanics, and the shop can accommodate up to 8-10 aircraft. Dress code includes jeans or shorts and a t-shirt, with safety glasses required at times.
