Organizational Relationship
The Machinist position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and receives advice, counsel, and direction.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Reviews job package in its entirety, including routing, blueprints, specifications, and other documentation as appropriate to fully understand the process plan, part configuration (dimensions &amp; tolerances), material, tooling, and equipment to be used to produce the product.
2. Builds a documented plan, utilizing knowledge of proper setup procedures, machining practices, material properties, and tooling. Se Setups built on equipment they have been previously qualified to operate, such as lathes, milling machines, and/or grinders, both CNC and conventional.
3. Operates production equipment utilizing knowledge of machining practices and safe operation
techniques to produce components and/or services that meet customer needs. In the past, we changed the setup to improve operational efficiency.
4. Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications using appropriate measuring instruments.
5. Evaluates deviations identified in the machining process to determine the cause and initiates
corrective action if appropriate. Rep reports all deviations identified via Process Discrepancy Report (PDR).
6. Trains less experienced machinists in advanced machining techniques to aid in developing a higher level of technical competence in the machine labor force.
7. Maintains a professional &amp; personable relationship with superiors, peers, and subordinates, being responsive to their needs as well as those of the company.

Design Development

Create and maintain detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and product visualizations using industry-standard CAD software.

Performance Review &amp; Improvement

Monitor and assess ongoing project performance to identify design bottlenecks or inefficiencies.

Establish, document, and enforce mechanical design standards and best practices across the department.

Qualifications:

Minimum

Education &amp; Experience:

2-Year Technical Degree in Mechanical Drafting, Design, or Engineering
</li>
<li>
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical or industrial design
</li>

<li>
Design experience with sheet metal and fabrication 
</li>
<li>
Design experience with structural steel
</li>
<li>
Design experience with various fastening methods such as welding, hardware, rivets, etc
</li>
<li>
SolidWorks/Inventor and AutoCAD experience
</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
Other Requirements:

<li>
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for creating charts and performing calculations

Performs effectively in ambiguous situations

Strong organizational skills and the ability to analyze and solve problems
