The Michigan Society of Fellows was founded in 1970 through grants from the Ford Foundation and Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies for the purpose of promoting academic and creative excellence in the humanities, the arts, the social, physical, and life sciences, and in the professions. The objective of the Society is to provide financial and intellectual support for individuals holding advanced degrees in their fields, who are selected for their outstanding achievement, professional promise, and interdisciplinary interests.&nbsp;
Candidates should be near the beginning of their professional careers. Those selected for fellowships must have received the Ph.D. degree or comparable artistic or professional degree between June 1, 2021, and August 26, 2024. Fellows are appointed as Assistant Professors in appropriate departments and as Postdoctoral Scholars in the Michigan Society of Fellows. They are expected to be in residence in Ann Arbor during the academic years of the fellowship, to teach for the equivalent of one academic year, to participate in the informal intellectual life of the Society, and to devote time to their independent research or artistic projects. This is not an artist-in-residence program but rather an opportunity to develop one’s work in conversation with fellows from a range of disciplines during the three years of the fellowship. We seek a diverse and international pool of applicants and especially welcome candidates from underrepresented backgrounds. The department seeks a scholar in Italian literature and Italian Renaissance art history who will further their own research in collaboration with faculty in the department and elsewhere in the Division of Humanities. The selected candidate will 1) conduct research in their stated field of concentration under the mentorship of a faculty member, 2) participate in regular colloquia and workshops in the department, advise and mentor students in consultation with the department and 3) be in residence at the University of Chicago during the three quarters of the academic year. Assistant/Associate Professor in Accounting

Serves as a Russian language teacher at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) located on the Presidio of Monterey in Monterey, CA. DLIFLC offers intensive foreign language instruction in fourteen languages and dialects languages on a schedule that extends throughout the year. Courses are taught six hours per day, five days a week with the exception of federal holidays. DLIFLC provides high quality culturally based foreign language training to enhance the national security of the United States. As an accredited institution, it awards Associates of Arts and Bachelor degrees to qualified graduates. U.S. Citizenship is not required, although candidates must have work authorization for the U.S. Candidates wishing to use Optional Practical Training (OPT) work authorization may be considered. DLIFLC may be able to support candidates with an H1-B visa under certain circumstances.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess an MFA in a studio art discipline by the time of appointment. Candidate should have university-level teaching experience with an emphasis on drawing from direct observation and the elements and principles essential to 2D design. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching drawing and 2D design classes within the foundations area of our department. The ability to work collaboratively with other foundations faculty to maintain the studios and in developing a consistent curriculum is essential. A strong record of creative scholarship and evidence of an active exhibition record is preferred. The ability to seek external funding is strongly encouraged to support research. Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in one or more of the following: undergraduate mentoring; engagement with programs directed toward first-generation students; direction and supervision of undergraduate research.
