Wilkes University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science in the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science at the rank of Assistant Professor, pending available funding, to begin in Fall 2026. In 2023, the program updated its curriculum to include practicum-based majors in Computer Science, Data Science, and Cloud Computing. The university possesses a high-performance computer cluster which supports student-faculty research across a variety of scientific disciplines.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related discipline by August of 2026. Applicants in all areas of computer science are encouraged to apply, especially those with expertise in cloud computing, IoT, or cybersecurity.
The department seeks well-qualified candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level. The successful candidates should be active in scholarship with a willingness to mentor undergraduate student research while contributing to the institution through departmental and university service. Founding Extended Learning Teacher Job Description
 
The Extended Learning Teacher is responsible for ensuring students are safe, learning, and excited about the program each day. In coordination with the Extended Learning Coordinator, the Extended Learning Teacher works to ensure students have an organized and robust afterschool program. Job Description
General Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Director of Educational Development, plans and facilitates collaborative after school activity sessions for elementary, middle, and/or high school students.
Major Duties:
<ul>
<li>Report to the school building on time and prepared</li>
<li>Meets regularly with the Director of Educational Development</li>
<li>Plans and facilitates group after school activity sessions consisting of games, activities, and interest based discussions</li>
<li>Maintains consistent communication the Director of Educational Development</li>
<li>Models appropriate academic and social behaviors</li>
<li>Performs other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
<ul>
<li>Ability to work with students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, academic profiles, and skill levels</li>
<li>Possess good interpersonal and organizational skills</li>
<li>Must demonstrate responsibility, a desire to help others, discretion, and flexibility</li>
<li>Knowledge of academic content and skills</li>
<li>Application of such knowledge and tools to help students access material</li>
<li>Ability to collect and analyze data to drive future instruction</li>
<li>Ability to work independently applying critical thinking skills and problem solving to various situations</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Must have extensive teaching, tutoring, and/or camp counselor experience</li>
