POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Think Tank is seeking a Seasonal Sea-Going Technician Level III to assist NOAA with annual fishery-independent monitoring surveys in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean. These positions focus on field sampling and data collection at sea-no land-based support between trips is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Participate in 5–140 days at sea annually, standing up to 12-hour watches.</li>
<li>Assist with sorting, identifying, measuring, dissecting, and sampling fish and invertebrates, including age, growth, maturity, genetics, and diet studies.</li>
<li>Collect and annotate optical survey data (image review, species ID, organism measurements).</li>
<li>Maintain scientific protocols to ensure high-quality data collection.</li>
<li>Support general shipboard sampling activities, organization, and clean-up.</li>
<li>Operate and troubleshoot electronic data acquisition systems.</li>
<li>Lead field parties/watches of up to seven staff.</li>
