Mobile Fleet Technician Opportunity Summary:

The Mobile Fleet Technician is responsible for performing on-site preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks at customer locations. This role demands technical proficiency, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to work independently in various environments and weather conditions. The technician will ensure compliance with DOT standards and internal repair quality expectations.

Job Duties:
\n
<ul>
<li>Perform quality repairs and preventive maintenance on diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks per manufacturer specifications.</li>
<li>Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify damaged, worn, or broken parts.</li>
<li>Create and execute job repair plans based on diagnostics, including estimating labor hours and required parts.</li>
<li>Diagnose and repair electrical systems, A/C systems, emissions controls, and other diesel engine components.</li>
<li>Complete PM services, DOT inspections, and documentation accurately and thoroughly.</li>
<li>Use diagnostic software and follow electronic repair procedures.</li>
<li>Maintain a clean and safe work area, both on customer sites and in the company vehicle</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records for invoicing and warranty claims.</li>
<li>Utilize company tools appropriately and maintain a personal tool inventory per company policy.</li>
<li> Support and train junior technicians as needed.</li>
<li> Adhere to all safety, EPA, and company policies.</li>

Work Experience and Qualifications:
\n
Experience: 3+ years of diesel repair experience; 5–7 years preferred in fleet, dealership, or mobile technician environments.
\n
Education: Certificate from a technical school or equivalent hands-on experience. 
\n
Skills:
\n
<ul>
<li>Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across multiple systems (brake, emissions, electrical, HVAC).</li>
<li>Familiarity with repair planning and parts reuse.</li>
<li>Proficient in Microsoft Office and diagnostic software.</li>
<li>Clear written and verbal communication.</li>
<li>Ability to work in physically demanding environments.</li>
</ul>

Work Experience and Qualifications: 
\n
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outdoor conditions, high temperatures, cold, humidity, and airborne particles. Regularly requires standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work is performed primarily on second shift and may require nights/weekends.

If you have at least five years of proven Heavy Equipment Mechanic experience or have graduated from a Trade School for Mechanics, Vector Fleet Management wants to hear from you! CDL Class B with an Air Brake endorsement is required!

Requirements:
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or GED</li>
<li>Class B CDL with an Air Brake endorsement</li>
<li>Heavy Equipment Mechanic will perform PM's on all types of powered equipment including loaders, pumps, dozers</li>
<li>Must have experience in servicing and completing PM work for large equipment, including oil sampling, in a field environment</li>
<li>Perform selected repairs on equipment involving the summary of components and systems listed above</li>
<li>Test drive all types of vehicles</li>
<li>Heavy Equipment Mechanic will train and assist other mechanics in all areas</li>
<li>Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work area and environment. Including but not limited to cleaning shop equipment, floors, and fluid containment areas</li>
<li>Must possess adequate hand tools required to perform routine repairs and maintenance</li>
<li>Volvo/CAT/Komatsu experience a plus</li>
<li>Technical education in a related discipline with experience, or on the job experience that includes performing service and repair on vehicles and/or equipment components and systems summarized above is preferred.</li>
<li>Valid Driver’s License and pass drug test and background check</li>
