Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant or Nurse to join our dynamic dermatology team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our dermatologists and ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients. This role involves assisting with clinical tasks, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a smooth workflow in the dermatology clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
Rooming patients and documenting patient visits
<ul>
<li>Show patients to procedure and exam rooms and prepare them for the physician.</li>
<li>Interview patients to obtain medical information and the reason for their visit.</li>
<li>Record patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results into the Apple iPad-based EMR. Assist with documentation during the visit into the EMR.</li>

Assisting physician with patient visits and treatments
<ul>
<li>Help physician examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as injections, changing wound dressing or removing sutures.</li>
<li>Collect tissue or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing.</li>
<li>Operate medical equipment including light phototherapy units.</li>
<li>Perform cosmetic treatments as mutually agreed upon with overseeing physician.</li>

Managing patient-related issues
<ul>
<li>Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.</li>
<li>Work with pharmacies and insurance companies on prior authorizations.</li>
<li>Fax referral letters back to referring physicians.</li>
<li>Respond to patient questions and inquiries.</li>
</ul>
Preparing the clinic for patients
<ul>
<li>Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. </li>
<li>Wash and fold clinic-related laundry.</li>
<li>Prepare procedure and exam rooms for patients’ examinations, keeping the rooms adequately stocked with supplies and neat and clean. </li>
<li>Assist in managing clinic supplies including monitoring existing supplies and ordering necessary supplies as needed in advance of depletion.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred. - Previous experience in a dermatology setting is highly desirable. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals. - Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic office software. - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Commitment to providing compassionate care to patients of all ages.
