Yoga Instructor

<h3>Job Description</h3>
The Yoga Instructor teach group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all, skills, and fitness levels. Effectively builds community within the class. Modify class as needed to meet varied health, ability and fitness needs. Instructor will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness.
Pre-class Preparation:
Arrive at class location 10 to 15 minutes ahead of scheduled start time to be available to interact with members, answer questions, inquire about their fitness progress, introduce and orient new participants. Group Exercise Instructors should know their participants on an individual basis and have a good sense of their fitness capabilities. Clothing should be appropriate fitness attire. It should not prohibit participants from seeing proper form, alignment and movement of the body. However, clothing should not be revealing in an inappropriate manner. Proper footwear should be worn at all times. Prepare appropriate music for class. Refrain from using music with offensive language. Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and have microphones ready.
During Class Responsibilities:

<li>Introduce yourself and the format of the class.</li>
<li>Inquire if there are any first-timers in the group and if so, assess their fitness level in as private a manner as possible.</li>
<li>Make sure all verbal instructions are clear and that the volume, tempo of music and overall atmosphere is conducive to hearing, teaching, learning and having fun.</li>
<li>Continually monitor participants to ensure all participants are using correct form. Offer variations of the routine to accommodate all fitness levels.</li>
<li>Create a motivational and fun environment for all participants.</li>
</ul>
After Class Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Remove all music</li>
<li>Make sure room is in order for the next class to begin.</li>
<li>Answer any questions/concerns participants may have.</li>
<li>Solicit feedback from participants about the class.</li>
</ul>
Additional Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Make sure that class begins and ends promptly. If necessary, make adjustments to the flow of the class to ensure adherence to the schedule.</li>
<li>If the Instructor is teaching the last class of the day, please follow proper closing procedures as outlined by the Group Exercise Director for the individual facility.</li>
<li>In the event that an Instructor cannot fulfill a scheduled class, it is his/her responsibility to find a qualified/approved substitute and notify the Group Exercise Director if there is a problem finding a substitute.</li>
<li>Instructors must be dependable and consistent in their class schedules. Anyone committing to teach a class should make all arrangements so that substitutes or cancellations are a rare occurrence.</li>
<li>Attend all required staff meetings as necessary.</li>
<li>Ensure that proper time recording procedures are followed correctly and in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Prepare any incident and/or witness reports as necessary in the event of accidents.</li>
<li>Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards his/her responsibilities, fellow employees, and members.</li>
<li>Promote Worx and Group Fitness as much as possible.</li>

Group Fitness (Group Fit) Instructor leads a group of participants through a series of movements and exercises using music as the basis of rhythmic exercise. The Group Fit Instructor is responsible for conducting safe, effective exercise classes and assisting participants in achieving exercise goals while creating a fun workout environment for all participants. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES Class Instruction Plan and develop a variety of exercise routines, choose appropriate music and choreograph different movements appropriate for each class. Lead the class by performing the workout along with the participants who follow your lead. Incorporate use of cuing, tempo and safe transitional movements from one exercise to another. Instruct group exercise format according to class schedule and adhering to company standard. Greet and encourage new participants and orient them to class. Educate participants on proper form, anatomy, contraindications and modification of moves when needed. Explain and enforce safety rules and proper usage of exercise equipment used during the class. Motivate participants and provide instruction in maintaining exertion levels in order to maximize benefits from the exercise routines. Monitor participation and make necessary adjustments when necessary.
Administrative Duties Arrive on time to prep, set-up and greet participants. Start and end class on time, as scheduled. Greet members warmly and enthusiastically and build rapport with participants. Answer questions and maintain a positive exercise experience. Communicate member concerns to the Group Fit Manager when necessary. Project a professional image through dress, behavior and attitude. Encourage long-term participation and member retention. Store all equipment neatly and appropriately. Report any equipment or safety issues to the Group Fit Manager, Operations Manager and/or General Manager. Accurately and promptly record hours worked on Club Ready and time and attendance system. Operate the stereo sound system, microphone and room lighting. Secure substitute instructors for assigned shifts that cannot be worked. Promote special events and other classes/services offered at the gym. Suggest special events to the Group Fit Manager to encourage more participation from members.
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS: The Group Fitness Instructor reports to the Area Group Fitness Manager. This position may interact with all levels of management and staff within Corporate and Field offices, in the clubs, and within the Fitness team.
