The Crisis Clinician 2 for the Community Response Team is a non-law enforcement position that will respond to 9-8-8 calls and provide mental health consultation to individuals and families in the community who need some extra support. The position provides triage, brief assessment, consultation, and referrals to community supports.
Typical Work Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m., with flexibility depending upon the needs of the department and program.

Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following
The incumbent in this position upholds confidentiality rules/regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Services may be delivered in person or via telehealth; services may be delivered in the following locations, but not limited to office or in the community including settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services (e.g., PCC, schools, hospitals, jail, courtroom, residences including transitional treatment bed). The incumbent performs all of the following using a person-centered, strengths-based, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and ethically guided approach. This position is stationed and dispatched from the Psychiatric Crisis Center.
<ul>
<li>Respond to 9-8-8 calls and provide mental health consultation to individuals in the community. Provide triage, brief assessment, consultation, and referrals to the residents engaged by the program as needed.</li>
<li>Document services in a timely fashion meeting all standards and expectations per MCHHS policies.</li>
<li>Answer phones by being logged into Touchpoint at all times</li>
<li>Provide follow up case management to residents that were engaged in the community with their partner or refer to the Navigators.</li>
<li>Provide back up to PCC as needed to include answering phones by logging into Touchpoint and conducting mental health assessments. Provide counseling by telephone or in-person to individuals and/or their families or concerned others. Intervene with both children and adults. Presenting problems covering the full range of personal needs and include thoughts/plans or violence toward others, and major psychiatric illness. Because of the wide spectrum of presenting problems, it is necessary to have a comprehensive knowledge of psychopathology and to be able to draw upon a wide range of therapeutic strategies in counseling. Perform independent assessment of mental status, diagnosis, level of functioning, dangerousness, and specific needs for service. Screen individual for psychiatric hospitalization. Develop plan with client/family to address immediate needs and plans to obtain services. If client is unwilling to seek services, make decisions regarding involuntary hospitalization based on dangerousness and ability to care for self. Maintain current knowledge of, and contact with, community agencies to make referrals appropriately.</li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li>

Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Crossroads Charter Academy is located in Big Rapids, Michigan and serves communities in the surrounding area. Our academy is not restricted to residential boundaries, which allows us to reach out to families in the suburban and rural areas of Mecosta and Osceola counties.
Crossroads Charter Academy is a K-12 school with a unique learning method focusing on the needs of students as individuals. Our K-5 students are taught using personalized learning which also incorporates project-based learning. CCA’s 6th – 12th-grade students are offered flexible scheduling to accommodate learning outside the walls of the school through internships, college dual enrollment, and various community projects. The middle/high school curriculum and professional learning opportunities are using personalized learning with project emphasis.
Crossroads Charter Academy embraces the Small Schools Initiative, serving approximately 300 students who work closely with a teacher, either as an advisor or homeroom teacher, to monitor individual student progress and to tailor the school experience to meet individual needs and interests. 
Staff at Crossroads Charter Academy are part of a learning community participating in year-long professional development designed to support and develop teachers through a process of reflection and practice. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?
As a full-time School Counselor, you'll spend your time conducting individual and group counseling sessions, addressing a spectrum of emotional and behavioral issues with empathy and expertise. Collaborating closely with staff and families, you'll craft effective intervention plans, providing crisis intervention when necessary, all while maintaining meticulous and confidential client records. You will ensure seamless support for students, within the framework of policies and schedules. To do this, you'll need:

<li>Master's degree in Behavioral Sciences (social work, counseling, or psychology)</li>
<li>Flexibility and adaptability to school policies and schedules</li>
<li>Ability to work remotely and onsite as needed</li>
<li>License or actively working on license/certification</li>
</ul>
Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.
