Job tasks include, but are not limited to:

<li>Evaluate customer’s prescriptions and visual requirements.</li>

<li>Measure clients bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes, using measuring devices.</li>

<li>Assist customers in selecting frames according to style and color and ensure that frames are coordinated with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions.</li>
<li>Heat and shape plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit clients</li>
<li>Show customers how to insert, remove, and care for their contact lenses.</li>
<li>Determine customer’s current lens prescriptions, when necessary, using lensometer or lens analyzers and customer’s eyeglasses.</li>
<li>Order and purchase frames and lenses.</li>

The Optician conducts pre-tests for the Optometrist, and fills ophthalmic eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions and fits and adapts lenses and frames according to policy.
Essential Functions:

<li>Determines client’s current lens prescription, when necessary, using lensometer or lens analyzer and client’s eyeglasses.</li>
