Essential Duties and Responsibilities

<li>Deliver one-on-one assisted stretch sessions of 25 and 50 minutes. Stretches may include all major muscle groups, plus extremities, including work on the small muscle groups and neck.</li>

Founded in 1982 as Joliet Area Community Hospice, Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care is an independent, nonprofit healthcare provider licensed in 11 counties in northwest Illinois.  We provide exceptional serious illness care, hospice care and grief support for adults and children.

The majority of our direct patient care is in the field with Lightways team members providing care in the home, nursing facility or assisted living facility.  We also have a 20-bed inpatient unit in Joliet.  Non-clinical staff are based out of our Joliet administrative offices.

We currently have a part time opening for a Licensed Massage Therapist working approximately 20 hours per week.  The Massage Therapist is responsible for scheduling and maintaining appointments, explaining procedures and applying techniques appropriate to client needs and preferences. Also observes client reaction to massage and modifies as necessary.  Qualifications include a Licensed Massage Therapist with certification in manual lymphatic drainage techniques and the ability to travel throughout our service area.  This position will primarily work with patients in the Joliet and Lockport areas as well as our Joliet In-Patient Unit.   A minimum of one (1) year experience as a massage therapist with an understanding of hospice philosophy and issues of death and dying.

Duties/Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li> Perform consecutive quality massage therapy sessions</li>
<li> Design specific sessions based on clients individual needs</li>
<li> Build your clientele by promoting the health and wellness benefits of receiving massage therapy on a regular basis</li>
<li> Create excellent experience for clients through friendly and helpful attitude</li>
<li> Help maintain professionalism and cleanliness of therapy rooms and common areas</li>
<li> Physical presence at the office on the provided scheduled times</li>

Education and Experience:
<ul>
<li> High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent</li>
<li> 6+ months of work experience as a massage therapist in a spa environment</li>
<li> Proficient knowledge of reflexology, Swedish, prenatal, hot stone, trigger point, sports, and deep tissue massage.</li>
</ul>
Required Skills/Abilities: 
<ul>
<li>Hold current state massage therapy license</li>
<li>Adhere to all current regulations and laws related to massage therapy</li>
<li>Ability to handle sensitive client information with confidentiality</li>
<li>Ability to pass a background check</li>
</ul>

<li> Proficient computer skills</li>
<li> Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written</li>
<li> Excellent people skills</li>
<li> Well- groomed, professional appearance</li>
<li> Dexterous and able to stand for extended periods</li>
