Essential Duties:

Overall Function
<ul>
<li>Coordinates the grantsmanship cycle (researching, planning, writing and reporting) to raise institutional support from foundation, corporate and civic sources at identified funding levels toward reaching overall Development revenue goals.</li>

Team Processes

Institutional Giving
<ul>
<li>Serves as primary relationship manager for an assigned portfolio of institutional donors and prospects, working through stages of donor relationships (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship).</li>
<li>Maintains annual grants tracking calendar, with submission dates, results, and report deadlines, using Donor Perfect; provide monthly updates to Senior Director of Development.</li>
<li>Researches and evaluates the feasibility of prospects in line with strategic plan and annual goals.</li>
<li>Writes and submits foundation proposals of up to $25,000 (and higher as assigned) toward reaching annual unrestricted fund-raising goals and program-specific needs.</li>
<li>Writes and submits corporate requests of up to $25,000 (and higher as assigned) for unrestricted and program-specific proposals.</li>
<li>Serves as project coordinator for assigned public funding applications, conducting an analysis of applications and outlining requirements; perform assignments, as determined by project team; responsibilities may include narrative preparation/editing, forms, certifications and preparation for submission.</li>
<li>Maintains a Master Agreement source chart with contract dates and interna/external contacts. Prepare and monitor a list of public funding sources for potential grants/contracts.</li>
<li>Participates in capital campaign requests.</li>
<li>Organizes “hand-off” meetings with Program, Finance, Development and Communications to detail funding uses, reporting requirements/deadlines, and award documentation.</li>
<li>Tracks cultivation progress, solicitation and stewardship activities in Donor Perfects, working with the Constituency Coordinator.</li>
<li>Prepares reports, including progress and final reports.</li>

QUALIFICATIONS

Job Purpose: 
Our next Grant Writer will be responsible for preparing grant proposals to obtain financial funding for the organization and its programs. This position writes grant proposals capturing the essence of the organization’s mission and effectively communicating its programmatic needs in alignment with funder requirements. The incumbent works to ensure the overall quality, accuracy, and timeliness of Wellpoint Care Network’s RFP submissions to meet funding targets.
Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, Non-Profit Management, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.</li>
<li>Minimum of three (3) years of grant writing experience with a provable track record in successful grant research and writing.</li>
<li>Experience working in a non-profit or educational setting required.</li>
<li>Experience in fund development or community engagement preferred. </li>
<li>Project management experience is a plus. </li>
<li>Knowledge of the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization.</li>

Duties:

<li>Serves as the lead writer on Wellpoint Care Network grant proposals and applications. </li>
<li>Researches grant opportunities offered by foundations, corporations and select government agencies in alignment with the organization’s mission and goals, grants calendar, and grant requirements.</li>
<li>Compiles pertinent organizational information for funding projects by meeting with various leaders / programs / departments to draft comprehensive case statements, letters of intent, grant proposals and reports.</li>
<li>Prepares compelling grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization with the goal of securing grants.</li>
<li>Submits grant proposals to funders free of errors and with appropriate stakeholder input within established deadlines and in adherence to grant requirements.</li>

• Maintains positive relationships with existing fund providers and other engaged stakeholders.
