The position ensures patient meal services are carried out properly, patient food trays are assembled correctly and expeditiously. The Nutrition Services Clerk will assist in kitchen as necessary. Job Specific Duties

<li>Competently and accurately process diet and nourishment order requests in computer system to optimize efficiency and productivity.</li>
<li>Assist patients with placing meal and snack orders, taking into consideration any food allergies, cultural preferences and CMC therapeutic diet restrictions (Diabetic, House, Renal, GI Bland, etc.). •</li>
<li>Assure accuracy and appropriateness of meal including food texture, fluid consistency, appearance, portion control, taste and temperature. Able to make appropriate substitutions according to meal satisfaction standards. •</li>
<li>Deliver patient meals and nourishments according to AIDET guidelines. Assist patients with meal set-up and assure meal satisfaction. •</li>
<li>Remove soiled patient trays. Assure sanitation of meal carts and food service areas. •</li>
<li>Perform first in, first out. Accurately cover, label and date all food items. Ensure all outdated items are discarded. Accurately document food temperatures.</li>
<li>Maintain courteous, considerate, cooperative and accurate communication with facility personnel, patients and families.</li>

The Unit Clerk will perform clerical duties and provides administrative and secretarial support to one or more nursing units and serves as a point of contact for staff, patients, care givers and other healthcare organizations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

<li>Communicates with members of the health care team, patients, and visitors using verbal and written means and equipment such as the telephone and intercom. </li>

<li>Stamps, assembles, completes, and processes patients' charts. Keeps patient records accurately identified. Transcribes doctors orders per hospital policy. </li>
<li>Prepares and maintains the units medical information system including patient profiles. </li>
<li>Checks charts daily for incomplete histories and operative summaries and brings these to the attention of the appropriate member of the health care team for correction. Checks charts and removes nonpermanent reports when permanent reports are obtained. </li>
<li>Prepares special forms such as body-release permits. Obtains closed records from Medical Records. </li>
<li>Prepares daily patient services requisitions. </li>
<li>Sends profile and change-of-bed status to the pharmacy on patient admission, discharge, and transfer. </li>
<li>Initiates daily worksheets such as temperature, diet, defecation, and lab slip. </li>
<li>Orders unit supplies to maintain inventory of the unit's equipment stock and supplies. Assists with receiving, distributing, and sorting supplies brought to the unit. Prepares requisitions and reports for maintenance repairs. Checks to ensure accurate charging of exchange-cart items. </li>
<li>Maintains accurate time and pay records, timecards, and work schedules. Notifies the Nursing Office of schedule changes and forwards the paycheck list to the Nursing Office. </li>
<li>Obtains lab and X-ray reports and notifies doctors of results. </li>
