OVERVIEW: The Lab Assistant serves as a lab resource for students while students perform lab task. It is not the expectation that the Lab Assistant acts as an instructor, but rather the Lab Assistant is responsible for the lab supervision and assessment of the students while on participating in hands-on labs. The Lab Assistant connects classroom and the hands-on area and their knowledge guides students to manage lab assignments, meet course outcomes, and articulate areas of opportunity and concern to the faculty member of record for the course.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: On site supervision and assessment of students during lab Manage student's progress on assignments Validate student completed lab tasks Communication of student's compliance and work back to the faculty member Assess students compliance Facilitate student's orientation to lab Demonstrate understanding and upholds the policies and procedures of Southeastern College and the program Assist with the evaluation of students class work, laboratory and clinic work, assignments, and papers. PURPOSE:
The purpose of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography (“DMS”) Faculty is to provide high-quality instruction and guidance to students in the general ultrasound discipline. Smith Chason College faculty members play a vital role in fostering an engaging learning environment and facilitating student success. A DMS faculty member will deliver effective instruction that aligns with the approved syllabi, guidelines, and program standards, while collaborating with fellow department team members. Additionally, a DMS faculty member is expected to model professionalism in dress, action, and communication. Overall, will empower students to achieve their academic goals and prepare them for a future in the medical workforce. 
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES:

<li>Must have a minimum of four years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught and possess a related degree at least at the same level as the course the faculty member is teaching </li>
<li>Maintain current certification(s) with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography license and all continuing education requirements set by Smith Chason College in the fields being taught and provide school copies of all the above on a yearly basis.</li>
<li>Maintain an active CPR/BLS certification </li>
<li>Possess a sound knowledge and understanding of the professional career paths and demands of employers in the field(s) in which they teach</li>

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

<li>Appropriate academic coursework and preparation in the subject are(s) taught means a minimum of 18 semester credits hours (or the equivalent in the undergraduate and/ or graduate college level) in related subject areas. For example, if applying for College Physics, the candidate must have completed or earned a minimum of 18 semester credits in the subject area of physics.</li>
<li>Previous teaching experience (minimum of three years) related to the subject area(s) taught with solid knowledge and understanding of adult learning principles and instructional methods.</li>

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction to students that meet the program and course objectives. The DMS Instructor should maintain an organized, disciplined classroom environment that is conducive to learning and imparts the requirements of the relevant workplace setting to existing students.

JOB TITLE: Diagnostic Medical Sonography Faculty-Lab Instructor 
STATUS: Part-Time or Full Time
TYPE: On -Campus
REPORTS TO: Program Director

PURPOSE:
The purpose of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography (“DMS”) Faculty is to provide high-quality instruction and guidance to students in the general ultrasound discipline. Smith Chason College faculty members play a vital role in fostering an engaging learning environment and facilitating student success. A DMS faculty member will deliver effective instruction that aligns with the approved syllabi, guidelines, and program standards, while collaborating with fellow department team members. Additionally, a DMS faculty member is expected to model professionalism in dress, action, and communication. Overall, will empower students to achieve their academic goals and prepare them for a future in the medical workforce. 
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES:
<ul>
<li>Must have a minimum of four years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught and possess a related degree at least at the same level as the course the faculty member is teaching </li>
<li>Maintain current certification(s) with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography license and all continuing education requirements set by Smith Chason College in the fields being taught and provide school copies of all the above on a yearly basis. </li>
<li>Maintain an active CPR/BLS certification </li>
<li>Possess a sound knowledge and understanding of the professional career paths and demands of employers in the field(s) in which they teach</li>
<li>Must have strong technical skills including all computer applications, internet research, database management, and analytical skills</li>
<li>Experienced with Canvas or related LMS usage for instruction (assignments, quizzes, discussion boards, gradebook, modules) is preferred</li>
<li>Online, hybrid, remote or blended teaching experience is highly desirable</li>
</ul>
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Review course syllabus and establish due dates with students on the first day of class</li>
<li>Provide instructions and demonstrations on ergonomics, knobology, anatomy and scanning techniques using current references and handbooks</li>
<li>Assist students with questions about protocols, procedures and policies, and provide constructive feedback</li>
<li>Demonstrate respect and empathy towards students, acknowledging and accommodating their diverse personal differences and educational needs</li>
<li>Maintain clean and organized labs with student assistance, preparing them for a professional environment </li>
<li>Prepare and maintain labs, ensuring the proper functioning of instructional equipment, including ordering supplies and reporting any disfunction in a timely manner to a Program Director</li>
<li>Maintain a record of students’ completion of required lab hours before the end of each course</li>
<li>Monitor student progress, report academic success issues and code of conduct violations to Program Director/DOE using the appropriate forms and procedures</li>
<li>Provide feedback on protocols and teaching materials</li>
<li>Perform additional duties as assigned by Campus Director, Director of Education, and Program Director</li>
