About the Opportunity
The Shrine is the beneficiary of a very generous and loyal donor base. Total philanthropic revenue is in the annual range of $4.5-$5 million through the support of more than 8,000 donors. Key revenue streams include direct mail, an annual gala, raffles, and individual giving. There is significant opportunity to grow and diversify revenue from an already committed donor base.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a strategic fundraising advisor to the Executive Director and is responsible for identifying and developing strategic partnerships and opportunities that will advance the mission of St. Anthony Shrine. This includes coordinating relationship building to raise the profile and involvement of St. Anthony Shrine within the Greater Boston business community, city, and state government, as well as with key Catholic and non-Catholic philanthropists; ever mindful to advance the mission and to build a culture of philanthropy.
The CDO inspires, motivates, and engages individual and institutional prospects and donors to make impactful gifts, developing and managing a portfolio of 100+ prospects with the capacity to make five-plus-figure gifts, and creating and executing innovative cultivation and stewardship activities.
The CDO participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives in addition to problem solving, and works within the guidelines, policies, and mission of the Shrine. The CDO will manage a staff of three.
Key Responsibilities Leadership
• Lead the organization, its members, donors, and community stakeholders to foster a culture of philanthropy for the Shrine. • Identify strategic organizational initiatives to meet program funding, in collaboration with the Executive Director and Department/Ministry Directors, i.e., Franciscan Food Center, The Rita A. DiMento Medical Clinic, Father Mychal Judge Recovery Center, etc. as well as capital funding such as the generator, lobby doors and security, lobby renovation, etc. • Create and sustain a volunteer Advisory Council, to work in collaboration with the Executive Director through service on such subcommittees including: Mission, Philanthropy, Marketing and Communications, etc. similar to the existing Finance Committee. Manage the volunteer leadership of this advisory group and strive to engage volunteer leaders and prospects in programmatic areas. • Represent the Shrine at community events with donors, corporations, foundations, and government entities to create greater community awareness of the Shrine. • Provide guidance and coaching to the Executive Director and Guardian in the art/skill of cultivation, soliciting and stewarding Major, Leadership, and Planned Gifts. • Provide professional expertise and direction in all aspects of fundraising to key leadership volunteers and employees. • Collaborate with the Manager of Marketing and PR to strategize and develop key messages. Fundraising • Identify, pursue, and cultivate strategic relationships and partnerships with individuals and entities designed to advance the mission and vision of the Shrine, particularly in the area of soliciting major gifts. • Manage and support the Director of Stewardship in the planning of the annual Franciscan Dinner and Pope Francis Award event with a $2 million fundraising goal. • With the support of the Director of Development Marketing &amp; Operations, manage the donor pipeline including identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting Major Gift and Planned Giving prospects for the Shrine's fundraising priorities and stewardship activities, while providing timely reports on activities. • Work with the development staff and select St. Anthony's staff and volunteers to identify public, private, and corporate foundations to support the mission. Research, plan, and submit each proposal, and follow-up with all grant reporting to the business office and to the funder. • Work with development staff and Director of Marketing &amp; Operations to create appropriate materials for fundraising activities and ensure fundraising dollar goals and deadlines are met. • Serve as Prospect Manager for the Executive Director's portfolio of prospects. • Create a Planned Giving Program with an initial objective of establishing a legacy society for donor participation, recognition and stewardship. The Psychiatric Crisis Center has been working to expand by offering bilingual/bicultural services at our Woodburn office. The Mental Health Specialist in this position will provide crisis assessments to individuals in need as well as case management, resource identification, and referral options. This position will require a motivated individual to learn about the available community services to provide mental health well-being. The individual in this position will possess a desire to be creative in matching individuals to available services while educating the community about the various services we provide at the Crisis Center. This position provides services to monolingual Spanish-speaking individuals; therefore, fluent bilingual Spanish/English skills are required.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Crisis Clinician 2: Provide assessments and treatment of individuals and families, including groups; provides crisis assessment and intervention services and related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is to provide assessment and treatment services; crisis intervention, and treatment services, including intensive services, to individuals and their families with complex needs and diagnoses and/or to develop and implement specific services in the community.
Crisis Clinician 1: Plans and carries out recreational, social and skills training activities; performs case management and counseling functions with Adults in Custody (AIC); facilitates counseling and/or skills training groups; performs related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is case management and counseling, without responsibility for developing and implementing specific programs in the community.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED Crisis Clinician 2 and 1: Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED Crisis Clinician 2 and 1: Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. Crisis Clinician 2 may act as Clinical Supervisor designee when needed. May assist in the supervision of practicum students and/or volunteers.
Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following
Counseling to Crisis Clients: Provide counseling by telephone or in-person to individuals and/or their families or concerned others. Intervene with both children and adults. Presenting problems covering the full range of personal needs and include thoughts/plans or violence toward others, and major psychiatric illness. Because of the wide spectrum of presenting problems, it is necessary to have a comprehensive knowledge of psychopathology and to be able to draw upon a wide range of therapeutic strategies in counseling. This work is done at two different locations each day (at the Salem Hospital Emergency Dept. and at PCC), so driving is required.
Assessment of Mental Status: Perform independent assessment of mental status, diagnosis, level of functioning, dangerousness, and specific needs for service. Screen individual for psychiatric hospitalization.
Planning Development: Develop plan with client/family to address immediate needs and plans to obtain services. If client is unwilling to seek services, make decisions regarding involuntary commitment based on dangerousness and ability to care for self.
Community Coordination: Maintain current knowledge of, and contact with, community agencies in order to make referrals appropriately. See that clients gain access to the services they need, and do follow-up work as needed, to make certain that client's needs are being met.

<li>Advocacy for Client's Rights: Provide advocacy for client rights, ethical consideration, needs for service and least restrictive care-intervention.</li>

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

About the Hiring Process

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Provides leadership and manages limited scope of services within one small to mid-sized service area or one large program area within the health department behavioral health divisions. Responsibilities include supervision of other clinical supervisory staff, program staff as well as financial and operational performance of the service or program.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of a health program manager or program supervisor who assigns and oversees work, establishes goals and reviews results obtained for overall effectiveness and for meeting department and county objectives.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED Exercises full supervision for clinical supervisory, professional, technical and support staff. May also supervise interns and volunteers.
Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following

<li>Provides clinical consultation to staff through case staffing and observation of clinical work. Provides feedback to staff for professional development. Provides personnel and performance management, including staff recruitment and hiring; new employee orientation; and ongoing training. Provides performance evaluations and initiates progressive discipline.</li>
<li>Responsible for direct services including: monitoring customer service delivery and work processes; ensures compliance with payer requirements; monitors staff workload and productivity; develops/implements policies and procedures; addresses quality improvement needs; conducts staff time studies and sets work parameters. This position is stationed and dispatched from the Psychiatric Crisis Center.

Because of the wide spectrum of presenting problems, it is necessary to have a comprehensive knowledge of psychopathology and to be able to draw upon a wide range of therapeutic strategies in counseling. Perform independent assessment of mental status, diagnosis, level of functioning, dangerousness, and specific needs for service. Screen individual for psychiatric hospitalization. Develop plan with client/family to address immediate needs and plans to obtain services. If client is unwilling to seek services, make decisions regarding involuntary hospitalization based on dangerousness and ability to care for self. Maintain current knowledge of, and contact with, community agencies to make referrals appropriately.</li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li>
