Responsibilities: - Maintaining and demonstrating competency in all areas of assigned client care needs and seeking additional information, in-services, or educational opportunities to remain competent and current. - Effectively coordinating schedules and assignments to ensure maximum productivity, efficiency, and meeting deadlines and commitments to customers, including patients, other physical medicine staff members, and other members of the healthcare team. - Administering and evaluating videonystagmography tests. - Performing electroacoustic analysis of hearing aids for documentation of function and troubleshooting. Performing real ear analysis/speech mapping for optimal tuning and adjusting of hearing aids. - Conducting all components of the complete audiometric hearing test battery as needed for differential diagnosis of hearing loss or other specific test objectives for pediatric through geriatric life stages. - Providing counseling to patients and families concerning the function of the hearing mechanism, the nature of the hearing loss, the use of the hearing aids, or the handicapping effects of hearing loss.

SCOPE OF DUTIES
Under the direction of Assistant Executive Director or designee, performs responsible work in identifying, appraising, and interpreting communication disorders of hearing; performs habilitative and rehabilitative programming, including hearing aid recommendations and evaluations and auditory training; and performs related work as required.
PRIMARY DUTIES

<li>Provide audiological services primarily to birth to three educational programs serving deaf and hard of hearing clients, in service, audiometric testing, and audiological management.</li>
<li>Performs audiological evaluations, writes narrative reports, and interprets test results for client/parents/staff.</li>
<li>Conducts hearing aid evaluations, makes recommendations regarding appropriate amplification, keeps accurate records and completes necessary forms.</li>
<li>Fabricates earmolds and maintains appropriate records.</li>
<li>Maintains contact with manufacturers of audiological/amplification equipment to ensure knowledge of current practices and products. </li>
<li>Assists in developing and implementing training/professional development for staff/parents.</li>
<li>Serves as a resource person to staff and parents in relation to audiology.</li>
<li>Networks with staff, consultants, and outside agencies on related issues.</li>
<li>May assist with designing programs and/or models on service provision for children with cochlear implants.</li>
<li>May provide aural habilitation to include developing, implementing, and evaluating IFSPs/IEPs</li>
<li>Collaborates with school management, faculty and staff on communication skills issues.</li>
<li>Demonstrates knowledge and use of equipment.</li>
<li>Exhibits professional behavior during interactions.</li>
<li>Facilitates a professional atmosphere.</li>
<li>Exhibits an understating and significance of test results for the clients.</li>

EDUCATION / SKILLS

<li>Must have an operating knowledge of audiometric instruments.</li>

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

<li>Master’s Degree from a recognized college or university with appropriate coursework in audiology. </li>

<li>Possess or eligible to obtain a State of Connecticut Department of Public Health License in Audiology.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn. Previous experience working with Deaf individuals preferred </li>
