The Retail General Manager (RGM) is responsible for managing the daily operations of the retail store including both the production activities and the retail selling floor. This includes customer service, stocking, merchandising, inventory control, budgeting, and record keeping. Also included is the overall production efficiency, housekeeping standards, safety standards, loss prevention, and coordination of merchandise flow. The RGM is responsible for clearly defining roles, responsibilities and requirements for their direct reports and hold each accountable by setting specific performance expectations, providing necessary training, and giving consistent feedback.
Role and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Responsible for the overall operation of the retail store, including store opening and closing.</li>
<li>Oversee all production levels, and quality of merchandise to the sales floor to optimize revenue generation.</li>
<li>Manage inventory levels of all merchandise lines.</li>
<li>Monitor and ensure a smooth and effective flow of donations adhering to all published standards, security, safety, and State laws.</li>
<li>Maintain staffing levels while attaining budgeted payroll This includes employment separation, hiring, and training all new associates in accordance with Goodwill policies.</li>
<li>Perform all requested reporting requirements on a timely basis including but not limited to surveys, production reports and sales reports.</li>
<li>Review and analyze profit and loss statements and adjust store operations according to data.</li>
<li>Ensure that daily banking requirements are met.</li>
<li>Set and manage schedules for store staff so that the store needs are always met.</li>
<li>Manage time and attendance through the Company timekeeping program and submit payroll according to established deadlines.</li>
<li>Maintain effective email, phone, and face to face communication with all divisions and other stores.</li>
<li>Create an atmosphere of ongoing exceptional customer service for both internal and external customers. Serves as a point of resolution for customer complaints and grievances.</li>
<li>Comply with and enforce company policies and standards.</li>
<li>Strives to reduce store turnover, through proper training, selection, and motivation of store team.</li>

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibilities over the retail staff including the Assistant Manager, Retail Supervisor, Merchandise Processors &amp; Sales Associates.
Required Skills &amp; Qualifications 
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or Associate’s degree preferred.</li>
<li>Two to three years of previous retail progressive management experience supervising departments and/or staff.</li>
<li>Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in retail or equivalent industry.</li>
<li>Experience selecting, assessing, coaching, and developing associates, preferably in a retail environment.</li>
<li>Full P+L ownership.</li>
<li>Proficiency in setting and managing schedules for store staff.</li>
<li>Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and climbing for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours- per 8-hour shift).</li>
<li>Ability to lift 35 pounds frequently.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.</li>
<li>Basic math and computer skills.</li>
<li>Broad knowledge of the thrift and resale industry and ability to react competitively.</li>
<li>Highly developed sense of customer service and interpersonal skills including high integrity, respect for all individuals (customers, vendors, and employees), strong critical and analytical thinking skills, and appreciation of diversity.</li>

SUMMARY Responsible for carrying out all retail operations in the store, including, but not limited to, creating a Christ centered environment, hiring and developing a qualified team, continual training and coaching for all staff, register operations, customer service, store appearance and displays, and employee interactions, as outlined in the essential functions of the job and in compliance with company policies, procedures and mission statement. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB 
1. Lead by being an example of Christ to all staff, donors, and customers. 
2. Lead and equip team in the retail operations of the store, including the handling of cash and credit card payments, checks, voids and refunds, in order to ensure the accuracy and security of all transactions. 
3. Complete, with accuracy, Daily Reconciliation Sales Reports, bank deposits, Daily Sales charts, Category Sales chart and Donations charts, and properly save and store all paperwork to ensure truthful reporting and recording of daily sales and donations. 
4. Work with management team to make daily bank deposits and acquire change for the register to ensure the accuracy and security of store funds. 
5. Complete with accuracy and a high level of organization all administrative needs of the store including schedules, coaching documentation, performance logs and any other necessary documentation that is needed for the operation of the department. 
6. Establish and maintain customer service standards in order to ensure compliance with the company mission statement and to provide a pleasant shopping experience for each customer. 
7. Responsible for the training of new employees in order to ensure the employees have all essential training needed to be successful in their position. 
8. Work with store staff, to maintain the physical appearance of the store, including, but not limited to ordering and maintaining needed janitorial and restroom supplies, removing safety hazards, picking up store merchandise and restoring to proper place, cleaning parking lot, sidewalks, windows and doors, store floors, restrooms and other public areas, to ensure the safety and health of customers and employees. 
9. Lead and train store staff in stocking store shelves and clothing racks, in order to provide customers with maximum shopping opportunities. 
10. Manage the continual set up and change of store displays in order to provide a pleasant shopping environment and to entice customers to shop new areas or items within the store. 
11. Communicate all events related to customer service issues or problems, employee issues or accidents, and general store operations to the Director of Operations, in order to ensure all issues are handled properly and in accordance with company policies and procedures. 
12. Communicate regularly with Director of Operations to ensure all store issues, praises, employee relations, etc. are addressed. 
13. Attend, as requested, training events provided by the company and all manager meetings as scheduled by the Director of Operations and Team Services Department. 
14. Work with and effectively communicate with the Production Manager, processing employees and donors on a daily basis in order to keep a positive flow of information and foster unity among all involved.
