A day in the life of this role:
The Pharmacy Technician performs many related functions under the direct supervision of the licensed pharmacist, including performing pharmaceutical calculations and data entry of prescriptions to be dispensed. The Pharmacy Technician is the point of contact with Outer Cape Health Services ("OCHS") patients and is expected to provide exceptional customer service in a timely and caring manner, answering any billing or medication questions, thereby driving a positive patient experience. 
Summary of duties:

<li>Fill prescriptions (checked by the pharmacist), accept new or refill prescriptions by phone, contacting providers for refills and new prescriptions, and transfer non-control prescriptions to/from other pharmacies.</li>

<li>Perform pharmaceutical calculations &amp; data entry of prescriptions to be dispensed </li>
<li>Advise patients on questions regarding their medication, such as; side effects, dosage, &amp; strength.</li>

<li>Perform duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist. Areas of work are checked routinely for maintenance of quality control. </li>

<li>Check and remove outdates meds on a routine basis to ensure that no deteriorated meds are in stock. Keep records appropriately.</li>
<li>Prepare returns to wholesalers.</li>
<li>Count stock and enter in inventory records</li>

<li>Collects payments and reconciles the Register at the end of the day following established procedures.</li>

A few of the primary responsibilities include:

<li>Provides excellent customer service to customers by building loyalty and repeat business.</li>
<li>Champions Thrifty White programs to patients such as Ready Refill, Medication Synchronization and HealthyPackRx and assists with enrolling patients.</li>
<li>Supports the Pharmacist in Clinical Service offerings.</li>
<li>Counts, measures, and packages medication in the appropriate container under pharmacists supervision and final approval to accurately fill prescriptions.</li>
<li>Inputs prescriptions into the computer for accurate transmission to insurance companies.</li>
