Assistant Professor of Public Administration

Research Contract Grant Specialist

The Michigan Society of Fellows was founded in 1970 through grants from the Ford Foundation and Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies for the purpose of promoting academic and creative excellence in the humanities, the arts, the social, physical, and life sciences, and in the professions. The objective of the Society is to provide financial and intellectual support for individuals holding advanced degrees in their fields, who are selected for their outstanding achievement, professional promise, and interdisciplinary interests.&nbsp;
Candidates should be near the beginning of their professional careers. Those selected for fellowships must have received the Ph.D. degree or comparable artistic or professional degree between June 1, 2021, and August 26, 2024. Fellows are appointed as Assistant Professors in appropriate departments and as Postdoctoral Scholars in the Michigan Society of Fellows. They are expected to be in residence in Ann Arbor during the academic years of the fellowship, to teach for the equivalent of one academic year, to participate in the informal intellectual life of the Society, and to devote time to their independent research or artistic projects. This is not an artist-in-residence program but rather an opportunity to develop one’s work in conversation with fellows from a range of disciplines during the three years of the fellowship. Assistant Professor/Postdoctoral Research Fellow 

The Center for Research on Race and Ethnicity in Society (CRRES) at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applications for up to two <a href="https://crres.indiana.edu/programs/postdoctoral-fellowships/index.html" target="_blank">CRRES Postdoctoral Fellowships</a>. These fellowships provide support to scholars studying race and ethnicity from a broad range of fields in the social sciences and humanities, including education, criminal justice, environmental studies, international studies (e.g., climate, human rights, and development), gender/sexualities, public health, and media (e.g., consumer culture, game design, film, social media activism, and sports media). We are particularly interested in candidates whose research intersects with African American and African Diaspora Studies, Native and Indigenous Studies, Latino Studies, Asian American Studies, African Studies, Latin American Studies, and/or Global Indigenous Studies. Fellows will be placed in one of IU’s <a href="https://www.indiana.edu/academics/schools.html" target="_blank">sixteen degree granting schools</a>, and are expected to pursue research activities associated with their primary area of work, as demonstrated by conference presentations and published works. CRRES fellowships are designed to advance the careers of new scholars by providing opportunities to research, teach, and connect with mentors and with faculty in host departments. Strong applicants will demonstrate evidence of scholarly potential that will make them competitive for tenure-track appointments at Indiana University and other research universities.
Terms of Agreement Fellows are expected to pursue research, teach one course during each year of residency, and participate in CRRES as well as host department activities and seminars. This two-year position begins on August 1, 2024 and ends on May 31, 2026, at a 10-month annual salary of $51,500. Postdoctoral fellows will also receive Indiana University health benefits and $3,000 each year in research support.

Postdoctoral Fellowship

The University Honors College and the Department of Political Science at Portland State University seek a Teaching Assistant Professor with a focus in Law and Courts with a strong commitment to undergraduate education. This is a non-tenure track faculty (NTTF) appointment for an individual whose responsibilities are primarily devoted to teaching. Expectations of the position will also include mentoring, advising, and service. Appointment may include responsibility for undergraduate curriculum development, participation in assessment, professional development, training graduate teaching assistants and adjuncts, and/or community-based work. We are interested in candidates who engage with key contemporary urban issues such as the environment, immigration, violence and/or policing, fascism and racism, poverty and inequality, among others. Ability to work with, mentor, and advise students and graduate assistants/ tutors/ graders of diverse populations, and participation in departmental, college/ school, or university service are required.

Teaching Assistant Professor of Honors & Political Science 

Manages the delivery of all academic advising for undeclared students and leads&nbsp;the development, administration, and evaluation of advising and new cadet transition programs. Provides information, resources, and training to cadre of faculty and staff serving as academic advisors. Assists in the development of an advising curriculum and academic advisor development program. Coordinates with other mission elements to plan and schedule advising programs. Reviews and revises forms, letters, and publications focused on academic advising and the advising curriculum. Proactively works to support quality improvement in products, services, programs, and policy related to academic advising and transition to college. Serves as a curriculum expert, mentor, and source of advice and guidance for cadets seeking assistance from the Office of Student Academic Services and Academy Registrar. Performs Associate Air Officer Commanding for Academics (AAOCA) duties in accordance with the USAFA curriculum handbook and DF guidelines. Serves as primary academic advisor to cadets until they declare a major, effectively managing advisee records and providing academic advice, mentoring, and guidance regarding the USAFA curriculum, programs, requirements, and opportunities. Uses a learning-focused approach to academic advising. Effectively maintains accurate advisee records. Thoroughly evaluates and assesses cadet advising needs, makes recommendations and takes appropriate actions, and conducts follow-up to ensure those needs are met. Serves as the lead faculty advisor for a Cadet Wing Group. Initiates, directs and conducts a program of research in their field of specialization which contributes to the body of knowledge. Performs appropriate service-related functions, as required, in support of faculty academic departments and the overall educational mission. Participates in faculty governance by attending department and faculty meetings and serving, when requested, on institution-wide committees. As necessary, serves as mentor to junior faculty advisors. Effectively evaluates the integration of technology into group advising curriculum and modules. Prepares manuscripts and/or presentations containing the findings of scholarly study suitable for publication or other distribution. Pursues professional development through membership in professional societies and participation in conferences or other appropriate activities in order to maintain professional and academic currency in area of specialization. May instruct Registrar sponsored courses or courses in an academic department. Supervises Academic Advising and Transition Programs division personnel; maintains the culture, guidelines, and organizational processes for the advising division.
Required Position Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in the field of academic administration as it relates to academic program oversight, scheduling operations, registrar functions, and academic advising and first-year programs.&nbsp; Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.&nbsp; Applicants must have the motivation, interpersonal skills, and institutional perspective to work with faculty and staff from across the entire campus to achieve institutional goals.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Desired Position Qualifications: Doctoral degree preferred.&nbsp; Demonstrated experience in the field of student academic services (supplemental instruction and strategies for academic success programs) and student information system administration highly desired.
