Must be ISA Certified Tree Climber : Description Using&nbsp; climbing and rigging techniques, cut away dead or excess branches from trees or shrubs to maintain right-of-way for roads, sidewalks, or utilities, or to improve appearance, health, and value of tree. Prune or treat trees or shrubs using chainsaws, handsaws, hand pruners, clippers, and power pruners. Works off the ground in the tree canopy and will use truck-mounted lifts.
General Tasks:
<ul>
<li>Climb trees, using climbing hooks and belts, or climb ladders to gain access to work areas.</li>
<li>Cut away dead and excess branches from trees, or clear branches around power lines, using climbing equipment or buckets of extended truck booms, or chainsaws, hooks, handsaws, shears, and clippers.</li>
<li>Hoist tools and equipment to tree trimmers, and lower branches with ropes or block and tackle.</li>
<li>Cable, brace, tie, bolt, stake, and guy trees and branches to provide support.</li>
<li>Clean, sharpen, and lubricate tools and equipment.</li>
<li>Inspect trees to determine if they have diseases or pest problems.</li>
<li>Operate shredding and chipping equipment, and feed limbs and brush into the machines.</li>
<li>Supervise others engaged in tree trimming work and train lower-level employees.</li>
<li>Trim, top, and reshape trees to achieve attractive shapes or to remove low-hanging branches.</li>
<li>Clear sites, streets, and grounds of woody and herbaceous materials, such as tree stumps and fallen trees and limbs.</li>
<li>Collect debris and refuse from tree trimming and removal operations into piles, using shovels, rakes or other tools.</li>
<li>Load debris and refuse onto trucks and haul it away for disposal.</li>
<li>Remove broken limbs from wires, using hooked extension poles.</li>
<li>Operate boom trucks, loaders, stump chippers, brush chippers, tractors, power saws, trucks, sprayers, and other equipment and tools.</li>
<li>Provide information to the public regarding trees, such as advice on tree care.</li>
<li>Prune, cut down, fertilize, and spray trees as directed by tree surgeons.</li>
<li>Transplant and remove trees and shrubs, and prepare trees for moving.</li>
<li>Trim jagged stumps, using saws or pruning shears.</li>
<li>ISA Certified Arborist&nbsp;a plus</li>

Job DescriptionForestry Technician - Mastication Job Description:&nbsp; This position will help Markit! execute various forestry projects and be responsible for assisting in the proper maintenance, preparation and operation of all tools and equipment including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and heavy machinery.&nbsp; This position will report to and work closely with the Project Foreman and Superintendent. Location:&nbsp;Projects may be located throughout the State of California and surrounding states. Travel:&nbsp; 50-75% but may be up to 100% depending on the project assignment.&nbsp; Lodging and per diem provided as well as adequate time off for rest. Duties &amp; Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Operate Markit!’s heavy forestry equipment (e.g.&nbsp; Masticator, Skidder, Feller Buncher, Log Loader, Harvester, Delimber, Dozer, Excavator, Chipper) as appropriate for each project. </li>
<li>Perform chainsaw felling operations, including directional felling, limbing, and bucking.</li>
<li>Manage slash operations, including lop-and-scatter, chipping, and hauling.</li>
<li>Perform road work, excavation, lifting work, site clean-up, etc.</li>
<li>Control erosion by contour felling and LEB creation and installation.</li>
<li>Responsible for completing and submitting proper daily inspections and maintenance on assigned machine(s), requesting any necessary repairs/maintenance from the Fleet Department.</li>
<li>Adhere to Markit!’s safety standards and promote safety culture among crew members, including the proper use of machinery and equipment and resolve problems when they arise.</li>
<li>Participate in weekly job site maintenance training conducted by the Foreman.</li>
<li>Perform equipment repairs/maintenance.</li>
<li>Prepare to spend multiple overnights at project sites, as necessary.</li>
<li>General forestry labor, as necessary and appropriate.</li>
</ul>
 Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Minimum 1- 3 years of experience in forestry industry operating heavy machinery, mastication experience is strongly preferred.</li>
<li>18 years of age or older.</li>
<li>Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.</li>
<li>Must pass pre-employment background check.</li>
<li>Ability to work in a team and independently.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills.</li>
<li>Have the ability and desire to perform strenuous outdoor work on rough terrain in a variety of inclement weather conditions.</li>
<li>Quick and able learner with strong leadership skills and a keen eye for details and good decision-making and problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Ability to work under pressure and stress and handle emergency situations.</li>
<li>Effectively complete work projects on time.</li>
<li>Ability to utilize safety procedures.</li>

About our Role
As an independent utility vegetation management consulting contractor, Atlas Field Services, LLC has supported our client's vegetation management programs since 2016. Our company consists of ISA Certified Arborists and Utility Specialists that verify and Audit tree contractor’s work for compliance with client specifications and needs.
Atlas Field Services (AFS) is currently seeking a Qualified Evaluator to join our team as a full-time employee in the California area. This role will be responsible for ensuring that compliance, skills assessments, and essential job functions are met and align with the companies’ operational standards. The role will report to an assessment yard in the Orville, CA area. 
Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Proctor vegetation management assessments focusing on a specific area of skill/ knowledge including, but not limited to contract tree crew task(s) performed within vegetation management.</li>
<li>Follow state and federal regulations, along with client Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Work Practices, and guidance documents.</li>
<li>Administer initial and subsequent assessments, in physical or digital versions, following the clients’ program structure and parameters.</li>
<li>Use effective communication and tail boarding to ensure assessment participants understand the structure and the process of the assessments</li>
<li>Document and communicate results (pass/fail) to participants and first line supervision in a timely manner, using standardized templates, forms, and processes.</li>
<li>Perform other work as directed by the client.</li>
</ul>
QE Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Technical Competencies
<ul>
<li>Knowledge in technical discipline required for performing assessments. </li>
<li>Thorough understanding of specific work methods and procedures, including all safety practices.</li>
<li>Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel</li>
<li>Knowledge of OSHA Logging Regulations, ANSI Z133 Standards, and PG&amp;E Safe Work Practices</li>
