Position Summary

World Monuments Fund (WMF) is seeking a proven nonprofitfundraising professional for the role of Vice President ofDevelopment and Partnerships. As a member of the Executive Team,reporting to the President and CEO, the VP of Development andPartnerships will oversee a staff of 12, as well as severalconsultants, and be responsible for annual revenues in excess of$25 million including $6 million in annual unrestricted giving, aswell as delivering on major long-term fundraising campaigns,including an ongoing endowment initiative, and play a major role indesigning and executing events to celebrate WMF’s upcoming 60thanniversary. The Vice President will manage all aspects offundraising and partner across the organization to identifyopportunities for funding a broad portfolio of cultural heritagepreservation projects, global priorities, and strategicinitiatives.

This is a full-time, exempt position based at WMF’sglobal headquarters in New York.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Team; work collaborativelyacross the organization to advance the mission of WMF and build aculture of inclusiveness and excellence
  • Deliver on the annual fundraising targets and establishambitious targets that support the achievement of the strategicgoals of the organization
  • Plan and lead special campaigns (general operating,programmatic, endowment)
  • Work with the senior leadership team to identify majorprogrammatic funding opportunities and match those needs with donorinterests
  • Work with the CEO as a lead fundraising partner whilepersonally expanding the constituency for major gifts and deepeningexisting relationships
  • Coordinate outreach work of international affiliates, regionaloffices, and donor councils to strengthen WMF’s network and build acohesive global cultivation effort
  • Ensure that WMF is tapping into the entire range of prospectivedonor pools—from individuals (major and planned gifts) tofoundations, corporate partnerships, special events, andmembership
  • Direct all aspects of the annual gala and other donor events,collaborating with the CEO and leadership team to conceptualize theevent program strategy with innovative programming
  • Develop highly customized travel opportunities for supportersin partnership with professional travel providers that showcase theorganization’s field projects and build loyalty and support for itsmission
  • Collaborate with Board committees to maximize their involvementin fundraising and other initiatives including to identify andbuild relationships with a network of potential major funders andadditional board members
  • Partner with the CEO on board development
  • Work with the Finance department on the preparation of theannual operating budget and to monitor performance throughout theyear and proactively address areas of risk
  • Oversee day-to-day management of the Development department tomotivate and support their work to achieve annual fundraisinggoals, enhance donor engagement, and expand our base of donors
  • Manage the Development department processes, and technology tooptimize the performance of fundraising and donor stewardship

Qualifications

  • Strong work tenure: minimum of 10 years of progressivelyresponsible management positions in nonprofit fundraising
  • Strong working knowledge of the principles and best practicesof fundraising, marketing, and communications. Experience withinternational fundraising is preferred
  • An entrepreneurial mindset to capture the many fundingopportunities - nationally and internationally - available forcultural heritage preservation
  • A strategic thinker with a focus on experimenting newinitiatives while improving systems and coordinating efforts toreach strategic fundraising goals
  • An energetic, collaborative leader and strong manager capableof overseeing and training a strong and diverse team, comfortableleading through influence and working across different stakeholdersto reach agreement on important decisions
  • Solid knowledge of the digital landscape and fundraisingsystems and analytics
  • The ability to foster a creative, professional, “open door”management culture; to empower team members to fulfill theirpotential; and to encourage staff to challenge assumptions
  • Motivation and passion to work in a dynamic, fast-pacedenvironment
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work evenings andweekends
  • Fluency in English required; facility with multiple otherlanguages preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required (MBA or graduate degree in a relatedfield preferred)

Compensation and Benefits

The World Monuments Fund offers a comprehensive and highlycompetitive compensation and benefits package, including paid timeoff, wellness and sick time off, holiday time off, and a multitudeof other insurance benefits such as medical, dental, vision, lifeinsurance, and a fully comprehensive retirement plan.

The annual salary for the role is anticipated to range from$220,000 to $240,000, commensurate with experience andaccomplishments.
