Technical Director/Production Manager -Administrative Faculty
The Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Nevada,Reno invites applications for Technical Director/ProductionManager. The position is a twelve-month Administrative Facultyposition beginning as soon as possible. The Technical Director isexpected to effectively supervise student workers, laboratorystudents, and student designers and stage managers with the goal toactively train these emerging professionals and further developtheir skills in the field. The Technical Director will oversee theoperation and maintenance of the scenic construction facilities andthree performance spaces and be expected to engage in theprofessional management of equipment and personnel. Additionally,the Technical Director will coordinate the development ofproduction seasons including the facilitation of technical elementsand the supervision of technical rehearsals, maintain oversight ofbudgets and calendars with the department chair, liaison withuniversity safety and facilities personnel, as well as other dutiesas assigned. The successful candidate should have excellentcommunication, thoughtful budgetary and time management skills, andknowledge of running a scene shop in an academic setting. Theyshould demonstrate potential as an excellent teacher and mentor,willingness to undertake service roles, and the ability to modelprofessional standards and lead by example.
Preferred Qualifications
- MFA in Theatre or related field with an emphasis in theatretechnology/production management and two years of professional and/or academic experience.
- Teaching experience at the college level.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or VectorWorks.
- Evidence of attention to diversity, equity andinclusion.
